Amazon return policy third party seller?

1,237 363 August 24, 2021 at 11:10 AM Amazon
I'm looking to buy some living room and kitchen furniture from Amazon and wanted to know how it works when a third party seller ships and sells the item and you want to return item is it the same when Amazon ships and sells item i.e. 30 days to return and then Amazon just schedules a pick up and it is free?

Do third party sellers have the same process?

or do they expect you to pay return shipping and possibly a restocking fee?

Amazon Free returns for third party only applies to items shipped by Amazon. If shipped from seller then the sellers return policy applies. Some charge postage, some postage + re-stocking fee.

So I have been buying a few things from Amazon 3rd's (non Prime) with a very long shipping window. At the end of checking out I realize they are probably Chinese sellers. Always issues, from missleading descriptions to shoddy shipping, to just trying to scam me with just plain cheap ass garbage they can get real money for in this country. Amazon knows they are flooding their site with this stuff and cancels them if I complain everytime.
As for 3rd's shipping from the US you don't have as many rights if they don't use prime. However as always with Amazon if you plead your case effectively Amazon nearly always has your back, as long as you don't abuse their I guess you call it generosity. I would be weary of the possibility of having to cover return shipping of any thing large and heavy though.

don't buy furniture from amazon unless you are going to assemble it then if one is near you check Ikea or other large furniture store. The stuff is going to be heavy or bulky making shipping a crapshoot..

Always make sure you read the return policy of the seller BUT Amazon has an A to Z Guarantee:

Quote :
The A-to-z Guarantee protects you when you buy items sold and fulfilled by a third-party seller. It covers both the timely delivery and condition of your items. You may be eligible to request an A-to-z Guarantee refund in the following cases: Your item hasn't arrived three days after the latest estimated delivery date.

This is why I stopped selling on Amazon back in 2013 since there were far, far too many horror stories on the seller forums of "customers" whining to Amazon about sellers not taking returns long after the return period was lapsed and them getting ticked when sellers were rightfully dinging customers for restocking fees and making them pay their own shipping when they just changed their mind.

In many of those cases the "customers" circumvented the sellers by complaining to Amazon CSR's and getting fraudulent A to Z claims opened that forced sellers to take back stuff on their dime.

Of course it didn't help when it seemed like many of the forum members were bulk sellers and had "refund and move on" as their (shit) policy, which held zero buyers responsible and conditioned them to expect that from every seller.
