The coupon here is $20 off $100+ not 20% just to clarify.
The best we normally can do is a $25 off $100 or $30 off $60 via targeted emails once in a while and maybe combine with a sale or clearance deal. The problem is no more stacking unless you buy enough to cover the gross spend of all coupons. So to use a 25/75 and a 20/100 you have to have $175+ net before tax to start with.
I like your thinking. Sounds like a cheap thing to test for yourself. I can not ever find anything to spend $20 on in the store or on the kiosk. My $10/$20 sometimes go to waste.

This 20% off code is good, but maybe we can do better. So, a question for the Staples deal experts: I often get a $10 off $20 in-store purchase code (works on kiosk orders) when I recycle ink cartridges in-store. I have a Plus account and have a good supply of used carts (thank you, Ebay). Does anyone know if you keep recycling past your ink rewards monthly limit whether you will continue to get these $10 off $20 codes? Or if a certain number of carts per trip need to be recycled to trigger these coupons? Having more $10 off $20s can nicely stretch our ink rewards.

I sure wish there was a Staples near me. They do have a lot of good buys
So basically this deal doesn't apply to previously discounted items or anything that remotely resembles tech. That still leaves a lot of things to buy. The best I can think of is office furniture, such as a desk.

I was able to the coupon code on a Brother printer + fillers. Work up an order and see if the code discounts your "basket." Have to get to the checkout screen to see if the coupon applies.
It would be easier to list the things the coupon doesn't exclude. 30 minutes messing around... I can buy paper. It doesn't work on anything on sale, which is pretty much everything worth looking at right now.
