Tip - Best to buy tickets via Fandango. That way you can earn the VIP Plus points for $5 credits. You can still use your AMC Stubs Premiere membership to waive the fees and use earned Stubs credits. Unless it has changed, I believe you can even buy tickets for your AMC Stubs A-List to earn the $5 Fandango VIP Plus rewards too.

I just renewed and it set me to automatic renewals. Can't find a way to turn that off.
It did the same thing to me. Go to your account settings, I found the way to cancel the Auto Renewal there, I believe it was under the AMC Stubs tab. It looks like you're cancelling your membership, but it's cancelling the auto renewal, it will give you Expiration Date.
The Bastards set everyone up for Auto Renewal even when you check the other button.

You say you can "use earned Stubs credits," but can you earn stub credits if you purchase tickets through Fandango?

When I was a kid, World Tennis magazine offered me two years for the price of one. I used my paper route money and had my sister cut them a check.
After a few issues, they stopped coming. It turns out, they went bankrupt.
This sort-of 'feels' like this, too. At least I'm using a CC now so I can try to claw-back my $$ if AMC goes under.
