check HR accuracy reviews at amzn . fitbit, etc to make your mind if that is acceptable for your needs
Not to derail this thread, but I'm looking for a fitness watch and really don't know what to get. I have no bias or brand favorites. Wear OS 3 is coming out soon, I hear, so maybe the Samsung Galaxy 4 Smartwatch? I don't know. I really don't need mp3s, texts/calls/notifications on my Watch, but I guess those are pretty standard features these days, I suppose I could just not use them.

However, they don't have a lot of support for older versions, sometimes I have trouble syncing, but it's starts working in a couple of days..

I received it three days back and the battery life is crappy to the core.
Seriously I thought I would be upgrading from my 3+ years old Garmin Vivoactive 3. The reason I got it because Samsung gave $100 in trade in and my 3 years old Garmin VA3 battery life after three years becomes horrible and I was getting hardly two days.
But, after using Garmin I think I cannot use these toy watches Apple, Samsung and Fitbit.
They are just fancy watches which gives you notification.
I already started hating Samsung watch 4.
Hardly two days of battery life.
You need download three to four different Samsung apps and plugins to make sense of anything.
Samsung health is garbage.
So used to the Garmin connect detail app, you can customize everything.
The Samsung watch 4 face customization is so limited.
The only saving grace is, I am planning to give garbage Samsung watch to my wife it's good for her fancy limited use case.
I am looking for Garmin Fenix deal now.
If you're serious about fitness plus smart watch go for Garmin.

I got the Alta HR around April of 2019, and I know two other people who also got them within a few months of that time.
All three of us had ours basically die right around the 14-15 month mark. They stopped syncing correctly, stopped getting accurate reads on sleep, battery life dropped from 5+ days to less than two days.
One of my friends just basically stopped using hers after troubleshooting it and failing. One of them got a newer model. And I ended up switching to an old iWatch I had lying around.
What's most interesting to me is that, just a couple months later, I decided to give my Fitbit another try and suddenly it works great again. Battery life is still only 2-3 days, but that's manageable.
N of 3 on this anecdote, but still:
I strongly suspect that Fitbit does this on purpose in some way, just like the lawsuit Apple had to settle not that long ago about slowing down older iPhones. They are trying to get you to upgrade and pushing software/firmware updates that are conducive to that.
If I didn't get such a steep discount through my health insurance for Fitbit, I would ditch them in the blink of an eye.
