I used these to clean up a rusty trailer. the bristles broke often sending them flying. I have no experience with a different brand but wasn't real thrilled with these.

Purchased this set a while back and used with a 4 inch grinder. The wires flew off like little missiles and would embed in my arms and one went through my shirt into my abdomen. They did not go in far, but damn, they stink. Don't take a chance. HF is good for some things, but no these.

I think it's pretty sad that what was an every day price last year is now considered to be a good deal.

I didn't shop at HF much in the past, but now I never do.

when was your last trip to harborfreight? they no long issue or accept any 20% off or freebies coupons for like almost a year now.
It's been a while since I've gone there. I've had the coupons in my car in case I randomly go so I guess I'll throw them out. Thanks for the info.

Second this, I won't buy power tool consumables from HF. They're just not worth the risk. I had a set like these and was pretty happy I had my safety glasses on as the little fibers were constantly flying out, even with barely any pressure on my workpiece.

Use caution when using the thin wired cup brush. Lots of wires let go and will get you. Typical Hazard Fraud quality.

Harbor freight is dead to me, pass
i agree. their prices are skyrocketing and they dont stand by their products. they do have some good stuff but you will pay name brand prices, in fact you can get name brand products cheaper when good sales pop up.

can we buy at store ?
Of course. I have had items delivered when in quantity, or out of stock locally, because the shipping is flat rate (1 or 100 items) and since I am rural, the sales tax is about 3% less than in the city that I may not get to for a few days.

.
You can use a mandrel adapter like this [amazon.com] with 5/8" threads, but the adapters for smaller mandrels are included.

They all throw wires... all of them. We use mostly larger Norton, but have these smaller in DeWalt, Milwaukee, etc. and they all throw wires about the same as these. I would not be surprised if most are not made in the same factory.

If concerned, wear a face shield, leather gloves and a long sleeve shirt and no problem. In the summer, I just wear sunglasses and use a magnet to pull out any stray splinters that are not all that hazardous unless you get one in the eye.

I bought a set of their best drill bits [harborfreight.com] on a deal and sure, some needed resharpened, but are as good or better than all of the cheap name brand sets sold at the box stores. Mostly, I wanted the index box for next to drill press and do replace the broken ones, but all in all, decent bits.

I also buy their wool bonnets [harborfreight.com] that are cheaper than anywhere and hold up for what I need.

Ask the store manager for a coupon. They are one time use, but on a first name basis, I can get them anytime I want. There is a gatekeeper for everything and even at Lowes, most any section manager there can give you 10%... or a lot more for items about to, or just went out of stock. Learn to read the codes.

Smilie .... That is the nature of all brands. If using all day, most guys wear a leather apron. The heavier wired knotted ones in this set or any cupped brush are the best for rough duty, while the crimped in all brands, including the DeWalt on here do not hold up for anything much more than 'fine finish.' The crimped all break off at the 'crimp.' If no variable speed, put some pressure on that grinder to slow the rpm's and they all hold up better from slinging stray wires.

Sure... Unless badly rusted, I would use the crimped one, as it is more of a finer finish.
