advantage of this HP over the lenovo
1. This HP has usb-c with DP and PD, meaning you can actually use a dock to both power the laptop as well as having 4K60hz output over the usb-c. The lenovo usb-c has neither DP or PD function
2. This HP has HDMI 2.0. The lenovo only have hdmi 1.4 meaning that lenovo has no way to output 4K60hz at all while with the HP you can actually connect two external 4K screens and run both at 60hz. If you are the type that want a laptop that can run multiple external screen, the HP beats the lenovo by a mile
3. This HP has dual ram slots meaning you will be able to upgrade all the way to 64GB ram and run them in dual channel. The lenovo has a built in 4GB soldered ram with 1 ram slot (hence it has a weird 12GB ram configuration with the costco model because that one ram slot has an 8GB module). So with the lenovo you are limited to 40GB ram and its not dual channel.

advantage of the lenovo:
1. Slightly bigger battery
2. Slightly brighter screen
3. Black color keyboard is better with white backlit and visibility compared to the HP silver keys not as well visible with the backlit.
Not sure if anybody has already answered this but this deal is better than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 deal you're referring. IdeaPad 3 15 is equivalent to HP 15 and lowest tier in their main line of consumer laptops. It has 4GB soldered ram and only one upgradable ram slot, only HDMI 1.4 port and the Type-C port is a 5Gbps data port, not supporting display out and charging.
This Pavilion 15 has two ram slots, supporting 64GB of memory (32GB is the max HP sells this model with, not maximum supported), hdmi 2.0 port and fully featured Type-C port, supporting 10 Gbps data, display port 1.4 (4k at 120 Hz) and power delivery charging which can be used to charge the device with any 45W+ PD charger.
Why does HP keep releasing these decent laptops with a 250nits screen?

Nice specs but 250nits is a deal breaker for me.

Hey cool, I'm also 1440p ultrawide at 144hz and with a 5600x and 2080 super it's about 130fps.
So, what's the verdict on this laptop for d2r? I'd like some additional thoughts. Honestly, I'm not really that picky about how it looks as long as it runs well without any lag or easily visible issues. I'm an old man and just want to play again with a cheap laptop.

Can someone take a look at this build and compare to the deal here? They are both $580:

Yours has 256GB SSD, WiFi 5, non-touch display, and non-backlit keyboard. But it's got Windows 11 out of the box.

The one in the OP has 512GB SSD, WiFi 6, touchscreen, and backlit keyboard, but you've got to do the (free) upgrade to Windows 11 yourself.

Also, yours now says, "The price of this product has changed from $579.49 to $609.99 since you added it to cart" and "Estimated ship date: 10/11/21"

Yeah, a coupon brings it to $580. But thanks for pointing out the gaps!

Yeah. Looks like this is the reason the one I ordered on Tuesday, shows as shipped (label created) but still hasn't even been picked up yet by UPS. I wish sellers would not show things as shipped, when all they have done is create a label. Shipped, means SHIPPED, as in picked up and "In Transit".

Update: Happy now as I did get a real shipped notification from Costco! With the 50 off 500 coupon, this is a great deal. Thanks OP.

Anyone else seeing a deal comparable? I'm pissed I missed this one. Would prefer a gaming version but not finding anything near this price range.

Just online chatted with customer service to ask for a $50 off $500+ code. No problems getting it. Just ordered right now and total with tax and shipping is $597.
