Great price! You can get refurbs on eBay for $150 but I'd rather pay $30 more for new myself. I really recommend them though - they're a great headset.

If you're wondering the difference between the XM3's and the XM4's, RTINGS wrote "The Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless have more features than the Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless. The WH-1000XM4 support multi-device pairing, have a longer continuous battery life, and they offer some additional talk-through control options. However, the WH-1000XM3 are a somewhat better choice for neutral listening, as they have a more neutral, less bass-heavy default sound profile and a more consistent audio delivery. They also come with a Virtual Surround feature, which the WH-1000XM4 lacks." At this price though the XM4's are $100 more (on sale) and I can't justify that difference.

If you want to save a lot of money and are cheap like me (thanks to having three kids), get the monoprice headphones . I am no audiophile but they are incredibly comfortable and the audio is about as good as it gets for my ears. I was shocked.
Which monoprice ones? (I searched SD for monoprice)..

How is the mic on these for making calls. Some reviews say they can't be heard at times? TIA

I do have bose qc35 ii model..it is good but not happy with micro usb and battery life. Also requires app to connect to any device which is kind of annoying sometimes. How is this headset compared to bose qc35 ii? I read some reviews and got an idea overall but would like to know actual user experiencein terms of battery life, connecting multiple devices.

Edit:

One more question regarding apple music audio..which headset is preferable?
For connecting multiple devices, Bose qc35 is better hands-down. With XM3, you need to pair again every time when you want to switch devices. (XM3 does not support a multi-device connection.) With Bose, you just slide the switch, and it toggles among multiple devices announcing by the devce's names. It's even better than XM4 in multi-device switching. In my ears, the Bose sounds better and more natural than the base-boosting XM3, but that's just me.

I've been using these for an year and the mic quality is fantastic. The only thing that I miss on these is the multi-device pairing but that hasn't been a deal breaker for me
Mic quality isn't good at all. Works decent considering no boom mic for but definitely far worse than an $8 boom headset on amazon. My frequent callers can always immediately tell which headset I'm on based on it "not sounding as good." I would not recommend these for work without an external desktop mic.

However, they definitely are great headphones. I love mine and use them nearly every day to listen to podcasts while on walks, etc.

Only the Bose QC35 ii. It's a very strange thing, like you can hear yourself talking in them. It happens on every PC. I think you need to install their software or something, which is something I personally don't want to have to deal with on work PCs.
I connect Bose qc35 to Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad all at the same time with no problem. You don't need Bose's software. XM3 does not support simultaneous multi-device connections, but XM4 does. I also tried XM4, and Bose was better in terms of ease of use.

That being said, Windows Bluetooth implementation seems like troublesome. I sometimes have hard times connecting Bluetooth devices such as keyboards, mice, and speakers (not Bose, though).

Are you sure about this? According to a Sony rep on their website:
Quote :
Once Bluetooth devices are paired, there is no need to pair them again, except in the following casesStick Out Tongueairing information has been deleted after repair, etc. When a 9th device is paired. The headset can be paired with up to 8 devices. If a new device is paired after 8 devices are already paired, the registration information of the paired device with the oldest connection date is overwritten with the information for the new device. When the pairing information for the headset has been deleted from the Bluetooth device. When the headset is initialized. All of the pairing information is deleted. In this case, delete the pairing information for the headset from the device and then pair them again. The headset can be paired with multiple devices, but can only play music from one paired device at a time.

What Snurpi said isn't the case, you just can't have multiple bluetooth connections at once so if you want to switch it to your laptop for a call then go back to your cellphone the easiest way is to disable bluetooth on the laptop.

XM4s do support multiple connections at once though.

Ultimately it's a minor inconvenience that you can pay for the newer version to not have to deal with.

Sorry, but I think these are horrible. Purchased and have listened to one other set of a friend. Same.

I've never enjoyed the multiple bluetooth connections feature. I've never used Xm4's but my HD1's would cut out my laptop audio whenever I received a notification on my phone.

I have a pair of xm3 and just bought a new pair of xm4 so I can use the xm3 for the gym exclusively. I use the xm4 for my PC and had to buy a usb Bluetooth adapter because headphones stuttered during video and audio playback via YouTube, iTunes and anything I tried watching on got player. Apparently it's a known issue since I found the forum on reddit about it and having to get 5.0 Bluetooth adapter to counteract the issue. Anyway long story short I'm wondering if I should return these and just get another pair of the xm3. I paid like 243 after discounts at target about a week ago. The only reason I got the xm4 was so I can pair to my TV and PC without having to connect each time

XM4's refurb are typically on sale for $200 eBay. You are also missing a lot of features vs XM4: Bluetooth 5.0, slightly better touch design for hear-through, redesigned earcups....

Anyways, to each its own, for $20 ($50) more, yes refurbished but they are like new, I'd take the XM4.

Yeah! I got the XM4 model on the last deal, and now I don't have to listen to dumbass conspiracy bullsh*t all day at work. It's awesome. Money well spent.
