I just was working on the same kit with my kids, 4 and 8. Totally worth it, will be getting at least one more. TIP: Make sure you use a vessel that has a larger opening than the body. Our orange crystal had to get broken to get it out of the jar!

It says at least 8 years with supervision.

Thank you for this! Clearly it's not a toddler toy. I do see this set has excellent reviews and an overall rating of 4.8 / 5 stars.

This seems like a great experiment to do with any kid interested in the weirdness of science. Even if they don't understand all concepts of what is happening, they'll surely enjoy the investment of checking in on it to see the growth and talking about what causes it.

I'd say the 8 they suggest is probably old enough to do it on their own with adult "supervision" so they don't try to drink the stuff, but think it would be fun to do this experiment with any kid that can carry on a conversation in complete sentences with minimally complex ideas.

I'm so sick of obvious slickdeals shilling… stop trying to sell me a product you have no intention of buying or using - merely for the commission. It's 4.8 stars off of 16 reviews.

How is this on the frontpage?

My kid is 5 and did this with her babysitter. Wouldn't trust her to do it alone yet

I'm all about pointing out shills but how do you know that's what that is in this case? There's no coupon code. It's sold by Walmart and is a good amount off.

I remember doing a similar kit when I was a kid, was pretty neat. Can't speak to this exact kit, but seems like a good price compared to what else is out there.

Kids 6 & 8 did this set over the summer. We used baby food jars (we cleaned and kept some) but the crystals never grew very large despite leaving it in a basement room with no light for 30 days. Longest crystal rock was about 2.5" high and longest crystal stem was about 1".
Could of been that it needed higher temperatures as real crystals form from high pressure and high temperatures. Might try again in winter when basement heat is on higher, good luck!
