I'd say the 8 they suggest is probably old enough to do it on their own with adult "supervision" so they don't try to drink the stuff, but think it would be fun to do this experiment with any kid that can carry on a conversation in complete sentences with minimally complex ideas.
I'm so sick of obvious slickdeals shilling… stop trying to sell me a product you have no intention of buying or using - merely for the commission. It's 4.8 stars off of 16 reviews.

I remember doing a similar kit when I was a kid, was pretty neat. Can't speak to this exact kit, but seems like a good price compared to what else is out there.
Could of been that it needed higher temperatures as real crystals form from high pressure and high temperatures. Might try again in winter when basement heat is on higher, good luck!
