Very good deal. I was against having mics in the house. I was just about to trust apple then that csam stuff was announced, now I'm on the fence again. I lost that blind trust in apple, which is ashame because by nearly all metrics the alexas and hey google out perform Siri. The saving grace was Siri's privacy. Now I'm questioning that

Edit: I'm not dissing apple. Just giving my opinion, phones are a necessity, but for me to put a device capable of 24hr recording in my home, especially in my bedroom, it either better be an insanely valuable product or leave me no doubts on security and csam does, I'm unsure on security.
On the valuable part, it's just a little valuable. I live in an apple ecosystem household. I can't remember 1 time in the last few years I haven't had a device with a physical Siri button present, whether it be an Apple Watch or an iPhone. For ME, an HomePod would just eliminate me reaching over 4 inches and pressing the crown on my watch.

Edit: if you were solely looking for a way to AirPlay sound with quality for a reasonable price, check out those ikea Sonos speaker. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/symf...-00357561/ no mic, can form stereo with 2, airplay 2 and they're legit Sonos speakers
If looking for a smart speaker I'd still get this over the others. With all that said, I still trust apple 95% not to screw me

This was one of the most annoying items I've ever tried to get a price match for. Best Buy chat claimed that they only match sales prices, but not "Special Deals", which makes no sense. The Target retail store claimed that it wasn't the same product, because a search for the UPC code on the Sam's Club website didn't bring up any matches. Best Buy retail store said they could only "match" down to $79.99, which is the lowest their contract with Apple allows to sell it for.

I finally just ordered for store pickup using target.com and then immediately called Target customer service. The rep happily refunded the difference in price. I then noticed that I didn't get my sales tax difference refunded, so while I was driving to Target, I called again and got them to refund a few dollars more.

It's sold out at Sam's but Costco has the same price now. I was able to PM through Target Chat and use my RedCard for 5%.

I don't understand why these were marked down. I received mine today from Sam's Club. Inside the Sam's Club was another box with a UPS label from Apple. Sam's Club received mine on 8/31, I placed the order on 9/2 so it wasn't a direct drop ship like Apple does for Spectrum for Apple TV's.
