I had many headphones in Sennheiser lineup including 660s, 650, 600, 6xx and a few in the 500 series. Honestly, I could not enjoy the 600s. I feel that the 6xx is the best bang for your buck. It definitely needs an amp but for $300, you'll have a very nice system with DAC/ Amp and a lovely headphones.

Why didn't you like the 600s? And why do you like the 6XXs the best? I haven't tried the 6XXs so interested in getting an opinion on them.

Why do you have both the 650 and the 6XX? Aren't they almost identical?
I have the 6XX and I like them except the hump in the mid bass area so I've been thinking about picking up the 600 but I'm afraid the highs will be a bit sibilant. For your reference, I absolutely hate the sound signature of the DT770s. I'm sure the 600s will not be as sibilant as that.

People say the HD 600 has slightly better build quality than the HD 6XX on the paint, sound wise it's down to personal preference as the latter has a bit less treble (will sound less "clear" but more warm). It's not really something you would know off the bat without an A-B comparison unless you have godlike ears or something.

i was thinking something is either wrong with my dt770s or i just don't like it. It just sounds raggedy

Tube amp is where 600 shines . Especially Bottlehead Crack 1.1 will bring them to live.
