I got the one without the front on it a few weeks ago from HD for 79. I love it. I would like it better if they had spaces for additional batteries because as of right now you can't fit the 3ah or larger with the stem facing upwards into the slots, and when you put the stem downwards, they fit but don't sit flat. You could put them on the shelves, but I filled the shelves up already, and they really only miss fitting by maybe 1/8" or so. The back also isn't sealed all the way around, and my garage walls are painted bright white so you can see through some of the seams in the back, no biggie though. It is strong and looks awesome. Also, I like the ryobi green.
HD has a video on how to make one. I added the parts required and they ended up being over $60. I'd be interested in a plan where the supplies come out to less than $30.
I'd prefer that one but it's not in stock near me at HD. It's also on sale at DTO but only for pick up so I didn't mention it. Here's a link if anyone near a store wants one https://www.directtoolsoutlet.com...g/p/STH402
I don't mind the green but I have all different flavors of tools so it will look off regardless what color it is

Agreed, get that crap out of here. Either buy it or don't, don't bring your morals or supporting someone somewhere in it.
Us buying this supports someone somewhere. May not be American, maybe an Mars alien, who cares. The only person who needs to benefit on slickdeals is us deal scalpers
At least pointing out its not made in america pertains to the product, do you have anything to add that actually pertains to the product...? That high horse doesnt look as good as you think it does.
As a woodworker, I agree its true somone can make one of these fairly cheap.. But the average homeowner is not typically that person, and the time it would take them negates any savings in price. Its also a great idea to house your batteries/chargers in a non combustible cabinet, as they can catch fire, making metal a logical choice. Just some perspective, this is a good deal if you dont mind purchasing non american made products.

I own one at my other house, I enjoy it. picked them up from discount tool direct local store. No complaints, and I have like 10 batteries from Ryobi on charger 24/7 for 5 years, nothings caught fire, that stuff isn't even worth thinking about, let alone a non charged state in a cabinet
I bought cheaper though, I got mine for 45 but it was no further discounts and local clearance. My post was directly pointed at him, like who cares who buying a product from benefits? I don't even care if buying the product at a misprint and causing them to go bankrupt, I just want the best deal I can get at any given time for the product I want.
One of the few things that you can actually easily DIY, easier than a bird house.
Would you rather have a Chinese brand with yet another product made in China proudly hanging in your garage or would you rather have something made yourself, with American wood (hot) and for a fraction of the price?
Making a wood version of this is probably no more than $20, something you made and no part of it is supporting a horrible regime. If anything you're supporting blue collar workers that could really use our support with a very green, renewable resource, lumber which went from an environmental disaster to now countries like Norway, Sweden and Canada showing studies that it's our best physical renewable we have so even if you are a tree hugger, you can appreciate making one yourself.
Vote with your wallet. No matter how you feel about the world around us, its some of the best advice out there.. vote with your wallet, put your money in areas you feel deserve that. Middle class America needs this money, not a Chinese genocidal regime.
What makes you think junk you buy that's "made in America" isn't made from parts made overseas?
Vote with your brains not your prejudice.
... lithium ion batteries are one of the single biggest causes of fires. ...
Show me a SINGLE reputable study on house fire statistics where ANY kind of battery even appears in the top 10.

In the rare event that a battery does catch fire, it's most likely to occur when charging. It's less likely to happen while discharging. And its VERY unlikley to happen while being stored. You're looking at a rare fire threat. And then you're zooming in on the rarest time for that fire threat.
If you're worried about a safe battery starting a fire during its safest time (being stored) that's fine! Protect yourself. But don't spout make believe claims to make your fear seem more legitimate.
I'm irrationally scared of sharks. But I don't tell people they're one of the single biggest causes of injuries in humans.
Not quite portable, but modular. Looks very interesting actually. You pretty much build your own using all of the different storage accessories. The portable option happens to be a part of it from what the video looks like.
Yeah I'm not sure what I was confusing it with but I'm definitely interested in it now. I'm hoping they might include it in the big Ryobi Days sales in the upcoming year. People love to hate on Ryobi but IMO they make great products for the money spent and they are much more innovative than some other more expensive companies. I'm not a contractor or anything but for homeowner and ranch use Ryobi works great. Hoping this modular storage system holds up to that.
