8GB is enough for "99%" of users, unless you listen to a lot of audiobooks, and read books with a lot graphic contents, eg comic books. By the way you can always delete and redownload books in your library at any time.

The only feature the Basic is really trailing in is the resolution. There is the slightest fuzz to the lettering if you really look closely. And no color-inverting.
Of the two, I still prefer the 2015 Paperwhite. The screen has a slight warmth to it. Now you have buy the Oasis for that feature.
Disclaimer: I don't have the new Paperwhite yet, but I did order it to gift it to someone. I'm basing my preference from the research I've done, aside from the resolution difference compared to my 2015 Paperwhite.
Anyways, l'd get both at this price

Yup I've noticed the small "fuzz" in the lettering of the basic. I'm still not sure if I want the paperwhite. I really want the oasis, but I need a slick deal on that for me to purchase it haha!
That being said this is a great deal for a Paperwhite. My favorite E-book reader of all time. I have the non ad version. If the ads bother you Amazon live chat can remove them for $20.
Best way to read ebooks is with Amoled screen set black background and a an orange-yellow color text.
A couple people out of hundreds will say it hurts their eyes - for them they can strain to look at the eink

You obviously haven't been on SD long enough to know that you never pay retail if you're a true SDer! You can get the latest Oasis for as low as $80 with a trade in and sale/promo. There are other ways to get them cheaper but not directly through Amazon. Show me studies where Amoled screen is better for reading than e-ink technology? Amoled like LCD screen is still backlit. Meaning the light source is beaming directly into your eyes instead of front lit like e-ink where the LED light source is lighting up the screen from the front edges of the screen. The 10th gen Oasis have the warmth light feature which reduces the harmful blue light and made it even more comfortable reading at night time. There is also a night mode on the latest Oasis where the screen is inverted and turn into a dark background while the text becomes white color this saving battery life and make even more easier to read. So anyone who thinks reading ebooks on Amoled screen is better than on a Kindle Oasis must be delusional or never tried it on both technology. I have done it on both and I own the latest Oasis.

Please share how to get it for $80. I'm interested!
Do a search on here for Kindle Oasis and see the previous threads. It involves Prime Day promotion and sale and trading in your old Kindle. So if the stars are aligned, you can get them for cheap!
Its an insanely stupid response given that the promo code was supposed to be for prime for students vs. just a discount for everyone. Additionally, the product routinely goes on sale to mid 80s or less, makes no sense to drop the price just because a promo code was having issues.
They just didn't like that people were signing up to stack the coupons, and they are really pissing off a lot of us by being obstinate about a $45 deduction.
...yeah, I'm not renewing this prime student promo and staying away from amazon forever again..
Received mine today, currently on the 4th CS person, I was promised $45 no they are saying it was in the price...

I had question regarding kindle or Fire HD 20% trade-in details, read amazon page but not really clear. Hope SDer can help to explain.
*** estimated value (might be adjusted) looks understandable. If my old kindle said $20, they will give me pre-paid label to ship back, check condition. If hold charge, cosmetic ok, then issue $20, or deduct or adjust $5 as it said, or rejected (send item back to me?)
----> GC part ok, I can wait or use it later for other purchase.
*** 20% off deal : Do I need to wait until amazon received trade-in item and complete procedure? then it will be appeared to my new kindle or fire HD purchase check out.
-----> the reason I asked is sometimes Amazon deal time (ex: kindle $129--> $79) only couple of days. if need to wait until they receive it, Price will be back to original.
*** will that trade-in 20% discount be combined w/ AMEX MR , chase, citi typ offer?
thx
