8GB is enough for "99%" of users, unless you listen to a lot of audiobooks, and read books with a lot graphic contents, eg comic books. By the way you can always delete and redownload books in your library at any time.

*** estimated value (might be adjusted) looks understandable. If my old kindle said $20, they will give me pre-paid label to ship back, check condition. If hold charge, cosmetic ok, then issue $20, or deduct or adjust $5 as it said, or rejected (send item back to me?)

You have a choice. If something is wrong with it, you can accept the adjusted value or have it sent back for free. Nothing lost, nothing gained. Sometimes it's still worth the $5 adjusted value, because you still get a 20% discount on your next Kindle and there is no maximum discount.
Yes. You need to wait for Amazon to receive the trade-in and check the condition. For me this took 8 days from the day UPS scanned my label. 7 days to receive, 1 day to check the condition. The coupon then gets added to your account, and appears at checkout whenever you add a Kindle to your cart. The only thing I don't know is when the 20% discount will expire once it's added to your account, but it does say it's a limited time offer :-/
Don't know if you can stack with an additional offer, but worth a try. Not sure if you qualify for the KINDLE45 offer, but that's as good as it gets. KINDLE45 does stack with the 20% coupon. Personally holding on to my 20% coupon for an Oasis maybe. My collection of Kindles is growing as large as my collection of books
