seems like a good deal. New is around $103. Amazon renewed has it for $85

Was looking for a backup router, have heard great things about this one. Will give it a try. Worst case, walmart makes it easy to return anyway!

Tip: Add $0.80 worth of filler for free shipping - here is a link for 2x of iodized salt

How are people complaining about no AX on a $35 router? AX barely matters as of now anyways. But regardless, it's $35!
You're not getting 3 gigabit from 5G. You're probably confusing your data caps or units or something.

Good deal.

Downsides:

1. It is AC and not AX (newer standard)
2. Sometimes it keeps dropping my connections until I reboot it.

I don't understand why this router has almost 2GB wifi speeds and only 1GB ethernet speeds, how it can produce 2GB wifi speeds if it cannot even receive more than 1GB internet?
Please share if you (or anyone) managed to get close to 1gbps out of this device

Wifi speed is for your local network, can be useful if you run a media server for home or something. Also, the speed is for all channels combined at optimum condition, like laying all your phones and tablets in a circle around the router on the table

Intranet speed for data moving between local machines.

Probably compatible with OpenWRT as an R6800 variant. Nice deal.

Also, the vast majority of people won't see any benefit with wireless AX. Wifi 6E might be worth it, but not vanilla 6.

Needed a replacement router, added on 3 year replacement plan for $6. Gigabit ports and 802.11ac is all I need. Thanks!

Tempted. I recently got the certified refurbished CM500 modem from Walmart. Came in a couple days, looks brand new, and has been running without a hitch for 3 weeks straight.

I can't find if any custom firmware can be put on this model. I always like that option to put on a third party firmware incase the factory firmware is being buggy or they stop updating it. Currently I have dd-wrt working on a Netgear R6700 that never seems to need a reboot. And I just put openwrt on a Asus RT-ACRH13 that was dropping the 5gz channel constantly with factory firmware. Now with openwrt I haven't had any issues, but its only been a month.
A quick google search doesn't pull up any third party firmware available for this model.

But after the CM500 refurbished from Walmart I'd have no concerns buying another item refurbished from them.
