So you buy a ticket and travel by 11/18/21. Then buy ANOTHER ticket for 1/6-2/28/2022 and on THAT flight your companion flies free?

This is similar to last year deal, but not as good. Last year was book "a" flight by x date (2020) and travel by y date (2020). Have companion pass January to end of Feb 2021.

Basically, book a round trip ticket by 9/9/21 with travel dates before 11/18/2021 .
You will then have a companion pass to used with travel booked between 1/6/22 to 2/28/22

Notes: Price doesn't not matter. I booked a $60 one-way ticket between NYC and DC. Used the companion pass for my trip to Taos, NM in January. DC to ABQ roundtrip was $260, so i essentially saved $200 on airfare.

Register, check cost on your existing flight to confirm it hasn't charged, then cancel and rebook with travel funds.

No, you have to actually book the flight. So changing existing flights won't count. You have to generate a new record locator.

Likewise, if you book now but change the flight, you should be fine. The minor change within the acceptable window of time won't affect your eligibility. Your record locator shows time of original booking.

You can get a full refund within 24 hours of booking on any airline. If it's pass 24 hours I think southwest refunds you full "store credit" to re-use within a year.

I misread this, I thought it was for a flight in January-February. But its a companion pass so its unlimited. Very good deal if you have a reason to fly.

Yup, thats what i understood per their terms. You fly now and then free ticket applies next time when you travel in Jan/Feb 2022...so basically they are making you buy ticket twice...its revenue generating scheme, not really what it sounds...not good for someone taking vacation but good for seasonal travelers.

Up until covid, I flew SW exclusively for business. 15-20 flights per year. It's not emirates if that's what you're wondering but it's a decent seat that'll get you to where you're going for a good price dealing with good employees. And the airline is very easy to deal with.
