Came across this deal at my local Fry's Grocery Store, for Duracell Optimum AA Alkaline Batteries 4 pack for $.70 / pack, reduced from the regular price of $6.99 (savings: $4.89/package-previously reduced to $2.10/pack of 4). These were in a standalone cardboard floor display and it was only the AA batteries that were reduced.

As a well-informed and savvy consumer, hopefully you were able to follow-up with the manufacturer and take advantage of their complete satisfaction guarantee. On a personal note, I've used these batteries for years and have always found them to offer exceptional battery life, without issue and are notably my go to batteries for extended backpacking/cycling trips, given their reliability and long-life.

BTW, I was referring specifically to this line of Duracell battery, never had any problems with regular coppertops.
