I disagree. I've worn both Freak 2s and these KD takedown models for pick up basketball and these KDs have softer more responsive cushioning for my old knees. Traction is better on dusty courts. Upper materials are better too. Get the Freaks for firm cushioning and better looks.
This is a great price as Nike production is much less during Covid thus less sales and outlet overstocks.

Lots of reviews commenting they they're super comfortable, light, and have good grip. Remember, with Nike, you need to go up a size if your high schooler has wide feet.

My sons play high school/club ball. They have shoes for home they need to train in, for the backyard. For the price you can't beat it. They run wide, which is good for my one son. You can't beat this price!

Although these are the budget model shoes they definitely aren't bad even at retail. I found a decent video comparing the signature model to the budget. It should be noted that both of these models have had new releases this year.

Just adding my thoughts here: I have wide feet and these fit great. I also always wear ankle braces so I'm not worried about stability of the shoe as much. They are extremely comfortable to play ball in. Def can't go wrong at 55$

Dumb question: do these have a soft rubber outsole?

From experience (specially in racquetball) a soft rubber outsole has better traction in wooden courts with a worn-out finish, or if it's dusty.
