Amazon just announced a new set of 4k TVs, including a "4-series" and an upgraded "Omni series".
I just stumbled upon the fact that the 50" version of these TVs has a 22%-23% temporary introductory price discount, making the Omni series $399 (normally $509.99), and the 4-series $359.99 (normally $469.99).
Note below the price on the main screen, it says the following:
Introductory price of $399.99 (22% off) will be reflected at checkout. After introductory period, price will be $509.99.
I'm not sure at the moment how long this introductory price will last. The deal does not appear to apply to any of the other sizes. The TV is set to ship on 10/27/21.

For me the HTPC still has not been replaced by "Smart" devices that are designed to turn me and my family into the product. Though I do understand that not everyone is in a situation that allows for setups like these. That's okay too.

I did place an order for this though. Mom watches Prime through our "Smart" tv which to me is clunky and agonizingly slow. She can not get a handle on using anything else though. I told her about this tv and she seems exited to try it out(already uses Alexa). So in for one for mom.
The lowest the nvidia shield has been is about $130. Add onto that a phillips hue system that usually around $80 or so to get the bridge + 1 bulb.
That leaves $190 to get a comparable 50" television like TCL brand. Ouch.
Yeaaaaaa, not seeing it. Again, if you wanted to buy them all separate, than this deal clearly isnt for you, and you also spent more in piece-mealing it out than someone who wanted to get into these products in one go.
Put some tape on the camera.
You can sideload Smart YouTube and other toys on FireOS. Can't do that with Roku.

The WiFi 6 won't matter to me even though I've got WiFi 6 routers because I always hardwire these with the cablematters kit. 330 Mbps down makes the menus and Plex load faster, everything just snappier in general.
He's not kidding. Those Roku TVs send back everything you watch back to the mothership. The logging URL that pi-hole blocks is scribe.logs.roku.com. How do you think the TV knows to ask you if you want to watch the movie from the beginning. Unplug that crap from the Internet and install pi-hole or AdGuard Home.
"Alexa turn on my bedroom TV"
"Bedroom TV doesn't support that."
Etc. etc. Then I yell at alexa. Also sometimes it will work sometimes it doesnt.
Finally. Someone with valid point!

Not with the chip shortage.
