Some of us value our time. I have a dog, and use it every single day. If not, my cleaning lady does and that's time she could be cleaning something else.
5 mins a day x 365 days a year x 4 year service life = 121 hours saved. My time is worth a lot more than $760/121 hours or $6.29/hour.
Just want people to be aware that iRobot just came out with a new model j7+ for $850
It includes auto empty bin and object avoidance (camera in front).
Available for purchase now on iRobot's website with other retailers to follow soon.
Biggest feature differences is the irobot has object avoidance while roborock has the mop.
No reviews yet for the new iRobot. One concerns is iRobot has a history of buggy software on new products.
Historically, Roborock seems to have better navigation/mapping/battery life while iRobot has better cleaning ability on rugs.
The bag thing stinks, but it's not a big deal. You can get bags for like $2/each on aliexpress. That's like $12-$15 per year? Hardly a deal breaker.
I'd love to see 3D obstacle avoidance on this one, but otherwise I think this is a great deal. Roborock has really done an excellent job with it's vacuums recently.
For a budget option the Dreame Z10 Pro is a good option to for only about $420 (after coupon). It has nearly all the same features, except the mop doesn't rise automatically. It might be hard to beat considering the huge price difference.
Can u post a link please, what bags are u looking at? I just placed an order for this vacuum
I think it makes sense to hold off for a standalone more-than-20% discount sale just for S7+ unit and perhaps then try to grab an EU or Korean dock if they are compatible. Should be right?
Thanks for this insight. When do the 20%+ discount sales usually happen?

Haven't yet, as S7 is a newest model. S7+ is something newer too, but maybe just because it has that auto clean dock. I am searching for a S7 deal (notwithstanding all shortcomings, e.g. diff brush, smaller container, smaller battery, likely better just for hard floors) and haven't come across a standalone robot-only no dock SD deal better than 10%. It should happen at some point anyway, until then I continue to use outdated Neato
Because it's not a slickdeal IMO to be wedded to having to buy bags and make sure to keep them on hand even at $2/bag.
Remember that you still need to replace the robot air filter, main and side brush. You are already wedded to what replacement parts they have, it's just another thing to stock.

I'll continue to wait for a remarkable sale, too.
Yep, 2 Neato S3 and 1 S7 in our family. I thought Neato would show more innovation by now, but Roboroc's vibrating mop and the bagless bin seem class-leading. Imo, iRobot was all noise.

Also, it doesn't take "5 minutes".
