This is great for variety and unpredictability, but if you want to teach a game from a "what are we/I trying to do to win" perspective, it cannot really be done easily.
All in all, highly recommended for groups that like a theme but variety and a non-prescribed outcome. for your ages, the younger ones will do Ok as long as there is someone to guide them... and they do not become the bad guy in the end, as the "goal" for the bad guy to win may intentionally meant to be a secret from other players

I personally suggest playing Betrayal at House on the Hill, get to know the rules. Then the next time you play, play in a dark room and have fun with the atmosphere. It's spooky season.
