Get BB to pricematch and use a trade in old router for the 15% recycle discount . Then it might be worth it as an extra Mesh Node. Not thread crapping just saying better alternative method to purchase if you want it.

also i dont think i saw this on the BB site
Pretty sure they had the AX-3000 when I got my AX6000 for around $220 last month. She had to order it for me as coupon is in store only and they only had 3000's. She was having trouble figuring out how to get recycle coupon and I was just going to get a manager to apply discount. So YMMV but highly do able.

This model is only available at Walmart. Asus said Walmart is currently the only place you can buy this one.

Why do all the ASUS higher end routers have to look like stupid space ships or have absurd illumination. Can't they make a router that isn't an embarrassment to have visible.
I have the AX3000, and it's buried in my equipment room for none to see. I use it as the primary router with their XD4 mesh kit with all three setup as nodes with wired backhaul. At least the XD4's look respectable scattered around the house.
I do think this is the same as the ax58u/ax3000, so it may be Merlin compatible. However the ax82u is also the same hardware, but required a completely different Merlin firmware just because of the LED differences. So this GS model may not enjoy Merlin support.

Is it spec for spec the same as the AX3000? Amazon has that for $10 more... BestBuy should be able to price match that one at least... Then the router trade in..maybe?
