Not the lowest price as the limited availability FP deal, but a decent price for those who prefer a wired connection. Seems to have most of the features of the top of the line Roku Ultra. Also has a microSD slot for extra channel storage.

Depends on your useage. G TV is horrible for multi-user experience. For example, in YT TV, you can't switch profiles. Literally have to sign out of the device and back in with another user. And, they don't have complete access to things. I was happy to get one for free with my 1-year YT TV deal but what a mess. It's currently collecting dust in the basement. I have a Ultra and a Stream Bar as a base.

Google TV OS was discontinued years ago. I assume you are asking about Android TV?

Personally, I like Roku better than Android TV or the Amazon firestick devices. There are pros and cons to each, but the Roku is more simple/easier to use and from my experience, less buggy. The only bad thing I can say is, the media player in the Roku Ultra devices is pretty weak, it only plays basic picture and video formats and it crashes easily if it loads a file it doesn't like. I don't know why they even bother to include a usb port for external media.

You'll get similar performance from both, but the LT has an ethernet port, SD card slot, and a remote with a headphone jack for private listening.

Definitely. I've got several Rokus and most have prompted me with the dreaded "we have to reload the channel - get a microSD card so we don't have to do this again" message. I added a microSD to a Roku 4 with no issues, but I have two older models (basically Roku 3 models) and neither will recognize a microSD card. It's true I'm using 32 GB cards, but I've read that many people had the same issue with the 4200 and 4210x models so I think I'll just gradually replace them. This might be a good buy to replace the older Roku on my AV cart which I use for outdoor movies.

Worse.

Older CPU, less RAM (1 GB Vs. 2 GB), and no USB port for local media (w/Flash Drive). It has the same CPU/RAM as the Streaming Stick+ but adds an microSDCard for caching apps (faster loading) and an Ethernet port. I'd definitely buy this if considering the Streaming Stick+ but the Ultra (non-LT) is still superior.

If you're talking about slowing down over time, there's a trick to Roku devices for deleting the cache -- I've found this helps get rid of sluggishness. I'm running a Roku 4 (5+ years old now) and it still works great if I wipe the cache a few times a year.

1. Press the Home button five times.
2. Press the Up button once.
3. Press the Rewind button twice.
4. Press the Fast Forward button twice.
5. The device will restart in a few seconds.

I also add felt and rubber bumper pads to the bottom to give it more airflow/prevent overheating.
I added microSD cards to mine, just some really cheap 32 GB guys, because it lets apps cache data. Forget where I read it, but Netflix is a good test. When you launch Netflix with no microSD, it has to pull all of that initial screen from the internet. After inserting a microSD, that page loads instantly. Yes adding the card also allows more channel storage if you need it, but I think Roku did itself a disservice by not advertising it for the performance improvements -- because there is a noticeable speed improvement by added the microSD cards.

The "updated" Ultra removed the microSD card because they supposedly beefed up internal storage but it's nowhere near as large as you can find with microSD cards so I guess time will tell if app bloat becomes an issue.

Can someone tell me if this has 2Gb ram like the regular Ultra?

Never mind. Found the answer here: https://developer.roku.com/docs/specs/hardware.md

LT has 1Gb and Ultra has 2Gb. Not sure how much of an impact that has on the browsing experience.

FYI from the description: "Lots of extras: Roku Ultra LT is packed with features you will love, including microSD for extra channel storage" Not sure what and how much can be offloaded onto the SD card, but potential for a lot of expandable memory.

honestly never added an SD card to any of my Rokus and not even sure what it would help with? I read somewhere it was for adding more channels but why do you want thousands of channels installed?

I don't think that's going to help with ram (app speed).

Edit: I stand corrected.

Anyone else experiencing more and more issues with the roku brand? I have multiple rokus, 1 about 2 years old, and the rest less than that. All of them have issues. I've had to switch to another device on one of them, trying the Onn stick from Walmart and it hasn't had any issues like the rokus yet.

I have had issues with the screen randomly flickering on two different Roku devices. I think both are Ultras that I purchased last year. If I cycle the power, it goes away for a while, but it always comes back. I have ruled out hdmi cords, tvs, etc I have tried everything suggested in google searches, but nothing has fixed the problem. I think it is something hardware related.

Yes. The Roku 4 in the den keeps turning closed captioning on no matter how many times we turn it off.
