If you're talking about slowing down over time, there's a trick to Roku devices for deleting the cache -- I've found this helps get rid of sluggishness. I'm running a Roku 4 (5+ years old now) and it still works great if I wipe the cache a few times a year.

1. Press the Home button five times.
2. Press the Up button once.
3. Press the Rewind button twice.
4. Press the Fast Forward button twice.
5. The device will restart in a few seconds.

I also add felt and rubber bumper pads to the bottom to give it more airflow/prevent overheating.

I added microSD cards to mine, just some really cheap 32 GB guys, because it lets apps cache data. Forget where I read it, but Netflix is a good test. When you launch Netflix with no microSD, it has to pull all of that initial screen from the internet. After inserting a microSD, that page loads instantly. Yes adding the card also allows more channel storage if you need it, but I think Roku did itself a disservice by not advertising it for the performance improvements -- because there is a noticeable speed improvement by added the microSD cards.

The "updated" Ultra removed the microSD card because they supposedly beefed up internal storage but it's nowhere near as large as you can find with microSD cards so I guess time will tell if app bloat becomes an issue.

Can someone tell me if this has 2Gb ram like the regular Ultra?

Never mind. Found the answer here: https://developer.roku.com/docs/specs/hardware.md

LT has 1Gb and Ultra has 2Gb. Not sure how much of an impact that has on the browsing experience.

FYI from the description: "Lots of extras: Roku Ultra LT is packed with features you will love, including microSD for extra channel storage" Not sure what and how much can be offloaded onto the SD card, but potential for a lot of expandable memory.

honestly never added an SD card to any of my Rokus and not even sure what it would help with? I read somewhere it was for adding more channels but why do you want thousands of channels installed?

I don't think that's going to help with ram (app speed).

Edit: I stand corrected.

Anyone else experiencing more and more issues with the roku brand? I have multiple rokus, 1 about 2 years old, and the rest less than that. All of them have issues. I've had to switch to another device on one of them, trying the Onn stick from Walmart and it hasn't had any issues like the rokus yet.

I have had issues with the screen randomly flickering on two different Roku devices. I think both are Ultras that I purchased last year. If I cycle the power, it goes away for a while, but it always comes back. I have ruled out hdmi cords, tvs, etc I have tried everything suggested in google searches, but nothing has fixed the problem. I think it is something hardware related.

Yes. The Roku 4 in the den keeps turning closed captioning on no matter how many times we turn it off.

They should spend more time getting their 2.4 and 5 g fixed. I stopped using them because of this.
