I've had CDMA verizon redpocket for almost 2 years, I'd say it's about the same as other verizon mnvo's, all of them seem to have occasional weird coverage issues that I don't think you'd get with verizon proper, but the cost savings are worth it. The only problems are:
1. visual voicemail stops working every few months, you have to call redpocket, they fix it in a 15 minute call, say this shouldn't happen again, and then it only works for another few months.
2. NO TETHERING on current phones! I had a moto x4 up until a few months ago and tethering worked fine. I just switched to a pixel 3a and found out that officially tethering IS NOT ALLOWED and it was just a bug with older phones that allowed it to.

Now I'm looking for a new provider when my year is up in a few months, I'll probably have to go with verizon prepaid.

att gsma redpocket does support tethering but you don't get visual voicemail for free. I took two phones on vacation to some national parks, att redpocket and verizon redpocket. the att usually reported the same signal or one bar higher, however in terms of actual data usability it was about the same, I saw somewhere that maybe att's thresholds for the bar levels are a little lower. But when it really mattered I was able to get just enough intermittent signal from verizon to get an email out whereas att was useless.

Also, att tethering apparently blocks all ports other than standard web traffic, so I had problems with some of my work apps that were fine with verizon.
Only for the few lucky ones who're eligible for this bucks promotion.
For those on or wanting the 20GB plan - which is regularly $336/year via their eBay store - was priced at $300 in late October 2020. I bought that on October 14th to be specific - more than a month before Black Friday.

Also, Red Pocket eBay plans can be applied up to 90 days after purchase... or at least that was the arrangement last year. My October 14 purchase was held and was applied on December 9th.... which from my perspective means I'm already within 90 days of my own renewal so my eyes are open for the next deal on the 20GB plan.

Last - tethering. I can't help anybody tied to or preferring the Verizon network. All I know is it's worked consistently on AT&T for years on every one of my phones.

Hello! So long as it is the same plan you are purchasing, you can add-on now by selecting the "Renewal/ Existing SIM" option and extend your existing plan.

However, if it is a different plan you purchase, then it will essentially surrender the remaining balance upon activation of the new one.

Feel free to DM us if you have any questions about your existing plan or reach out to our eBay team, and we'll gladly help you out.

I actually lost a month of service when renewing the same CDMAS plan back in July. The renewal was handled by a representative over the phone. So at least not everyone are on the same page.

Does AT&T let you tether? Assuming they don't let you roam? Any other advantages? Is it always $300 or do they have any further discounts?
Worked fine for me. I was on their $40 for 16gb prepaid plan and could tether without an issue.

Calling this service CDMA is a relic from when there was a differentiation between GSM / CDMA. All providers are using LTE at this point. I can't say for certain, but I'd think almost any unlocked modern phone (Apple or Android) will work on Verizon as long as they have use the frequencies.

You'd have to be somewhere extremely rural to actually use anything other than LTE.

I have had RP for a few years now. I have Verizon, and it allows me to tether. At least it did a few months ago. I don't check it regularly or anything. It's with an LG thin Q which allows GSM and CDMA carriers.

I'm thinking of trying ATT coverage anyway, so if tethering stops, I'll switch to that. I don't use it often, but I do need it a couple of times a year.

Overall a great deal and a great provider. I've got 3 lines on this plan.

I always use chat. It's usually about having to activate tethering on their end when I get a new plan or phone.
Something to keep in mind is that you probably will need to contact support on a somewhat regular basis since their systems don't seem to be fully automated. Voice mail doesn't work all of a sudden - contact support. Tethering/hotspot doesn't work - contact support. They can usually resolve it in one call but I've never had to contact support so much with another company when nothing was changing on my end.

Just an FYI if you browse through Reddit, RedPockets support is absolutely terrible. I've had them a total of 5 years with a total of 4 phones. I can confirm it's like pulling teeth to get the Phillipians to do anything more than read from a script. Not only that but they will suspend you for "overuse" on their network. My cousin whom I recommended to RP 2 years ago has been turned off with them numerous times and is on the "Unlimited" plan. The crime I guess is over 5,000 minutes a month. So much for unlimited, I guess? Finally, service is not pro-rated, after he went to cancel 6 months into his second year, they wouldn't give him anything back even though they are breaking their own rules. Go somewhere else.
I don't need Reddit to 2nd this. I've had multiple issues with not getting group messages (MMS) that took seemingly several weeks to figure out. I still occasionally don't get MMS text. Have to ask a neighbor via direct text. When my family signed up last year, one of the SIM cards was obviously bad as we couldn't access 4G LTE with that particular SIM card. The rest of the phones worked fine. (They had reports of a bad batch of SIM Cards). My wife spent hours on the phone and messaging with various CS reps and they all refused to send a new SIM repeatedly telling her to try the same troubleshooting over and over. Needless to say they finally sent a new SIM after about a month and 4G LTE started working immediately.

I've been with RP for about 2 years and I am planning on switching when my plan is up.

If you have 3 lines or more, US Mobile is worth having a look. You choose between their T-Mobile or their Verizon SIM. We have 4 lines on their Unlimited All service. It's $25/mo per line taxes included. They give 1 perk for 3 lines and 2 perks for 4 lines or more...we chose Spotify Family and Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ combo. They reimburse us for these streaming monthly subscriptions... we pay about $16/line after reimbursements.

Our existing plan expires in October, but twice during the summer they deactivated it "buy more minutes etc...". For the first time the website had an incorrectly reset expiration date, for the second time even the website date remained October. I had the ebay receipt to prove, but it was not pleasant to call them, one time with an hour wait time, to get it fixed. Not a reliable service.

I had a similar experience recently. Have been their customer for almost 6-7 years. Suddenly in July when my monthly renewed, on Day 2 my voice/data balance went to Zero. I thought may be kids watched some video depleting data but voice was not explainable. Their chat looked it up and restored all my voice minutes (took an hour for them to do multiple verification etc.). I guess my data was also depleted in error too but I did not have proof and they did not credit that back. I had to buy data for July to get going. In August same thing happened. On Day 2 of monthly cycle voice/data gone. Again went to CS chat who restored it after an hour and said it won't happen again. They would not tell me despite my repeated request what the underlying root cause and should I be worried.

These are 2 strikes in my opinion and most likely I will move to another provider when it is time to renew. They did not seem too concerned about it when I told them that I won't renew.

I've had these guys for close to 2 years and I will say I'm going back to mint mobile. Coverage is pretty much equivalent but to hotspot is funky. I have an iPhone se and I have to turn on Gps then turn on hotspot to get hotspot working. Its the dumbest thing in the world. Plus for some reason when I do it won't allow some devices to connect to the internet. As much as I would like having 8gb of data I don't use that much while traveling and mints $15 month 3gb plan works fine for me. I have two lines, Google Fi and something else. I usually just use the something else for data but if I need more data I will use googles. Usually that combo gets me better coverage than everyone I know and I'm not paying the stupid $70-80 a month like conventional plans

I used red pocket for the extra coverage on a vacation early 2020 so this may not work any more. You can fix the tethering with adb commands. Start with "adb devices" then "adb shell" and "settings put global tether_dun_required 0"
I'm using a 3a xl. Kept my wife and I connected and didn't have to pay as much as normal for the data.

Alternatively to this, I have had Total Wireless for about a year on the 4 line family plan. Once or twice a year Target discounts their prepaid plans 10%, which stacks with redcard, so I get 100gb shared on 4 lines (with 5gb/line hotspot) for $85.50/month (inclusive of fees). They have a reward program that has earned me a couple of free months (referral, points for paying the bill, etc.)

Honestly, OP deal is pretty good, and that US Mobile sounds good too, but I just figured I would throw out the alternative.
