3GB plan for $168

The 8GB plan is a little cheaper than last time and the 3GB plan is a bit more expensive.

1. visual voicemail stops working every few months, you have to call redpocket, they fix it in a 15 minute call, say this shouldn't happen again, and then it only works for another few months.
2. NO TETHERING on current phones! I had a moto x4 up until a few months ago and tethering worked fine. I just switched to a pixel 3a and found out that officially tethering IS NOT ALLOWED and it was just a bug with older phones that allowed it to.
Now I'm looking for a new provider when my year is up in a few months, I'll probably have to go with verizon prepaid.
att gsma redpocket does support tethering but you don't get visual voicemail for free. I took two phones on vacation to some national parks, att redpocket and verizon redpocket. the att usually reported the same signal or one bar higher, however in terms of actual data usability it was about the same, I saw somewhere that maybe att's thresholds for the bar levels are a little lower. But when it really mattered I was able to get just enough intermittent signal from verizon to get an email out whereas att was useless.
Also, att tethering apparently blocks all ports other than standard web traffic, so I had problems with some of my work apps that were fine with verizon.
Also, Red Pocket eBay plans can be applied up to 90 days after purchase... or at least that was the arrangement last year. My October 14 purchase was held and was applied on December 9th.... which from my perspective means I'm already within 90 days of my own renewal so my eyes are open for the next deal on the 20GB plan.
Last - tethering. I can't help anybody tied to or preferring the Verizon network. All I know is it's worked consistently on AT&T for years on every one of my phones.

If your current service extends beyond that date, you'll just lose the remaining days on your old contract when the new contract is turned on.

My plan ends on 12/15. I guess I should wait a couple days then. Thanks!
I've been on Red Pocket for years. Admittedly, their customer service sometimes is unresponsive, but whenever I've had an issue (which has been VERY infrequently) it's been fixed within a couple of hours. I had both RP and Mint earlier this summer (got a cheap 3mo Mint trial) to test out T Mo coverage and speed in my area, and Mint was a lot easier to set up and get started on.
Comparing apples to apples between the services is complicated because they don't offer the same amount of data on their plans. Mint is 4, 10, 15, or Unlimited (35) GB per month of high speed data before throttling. RP offers 1, 3, and 8. [update: the 20GB plan is GSMA only, can't get that on GSMT] (I'm ignoring their 200 and 500MB monthly plans, those are hard-capped), If you arrange them in order by GB, and figure out how many $ per month you'll pay per GB if you max out your data, you get this:
Up to 1GB: Red Pocket ($84/year = $7.00/GB per month)
Up to 3GB: Red Pocket ($168/year = $4.67/GB per month)
Up to 4GB: Mint ($180/year = $3.75/GB per month)
Up to 8GB: Red Pocket ($216/year = $2.25/GB per month)
Up to 10GB: Mint ($240/year = $2.00/GB per month)
Up to 35GB: Mint ($360/year = $0.86/GB per month)
Red Pocket is least-expensive: Up to 3GB, 4-8GB
Mint Mobile is least-expensive: 3-4GB, >8GB
The MVNO that is cheapest for you depends on your usage.

I think the normal everyday price is $240. And no, I don't qualify for the 5% ebay bucks. I'm sure there will be more sales close to that time of year though, so I'm not too worried. Thanks for chiming in!
