I miss the yearly Target/Amazon/Bestbuy latest iPad generation at $249.99 during Black Friday. They never did it last year. They did it every year going back as far as I can remember. All good things come to an end I suppose. Darn.

Seeing as I cancelled this order with Walmart, I went ahead and tried to price match with BestBuy. They agreed on-line and an agent set up the order. It was all processed with confirmation email and 2 minutes later was cancelled, by BestBuy. Another agent said credit card decline, but that was not the case - it was debited and then credited back. And that agent would not help me with a repeat order. Definitely waiting until BF....

Item was delivered today via FedEx. It was 2 days later than the initial delivery date at time of preorder but that is no problem for me.

Mine arrived today. Night and day speed difference over the Air2. Really haven't noticed any screen difference either, not being laminated. If anything, the size and weight increase over the Air2 is noticeable, so the new Mini might be better there.

One would hope a 5 generation cpu bump from A8 to A13 would be very noticeable, going from the ancient Air 2 to the iPad 9.

As to the display, same 264 pixel density but the iPad 9 has 500 bits of brightness versus 400 on the Air 2.

The weight and overall size are not all that different even tho the screen jumps from 9.7 to 10.2 inches.

iPad 9 gains Apple Pencil 1 compatibility vs none on air 2.

The front camera takes a leap from 1.2 to 12 MP and more importantly for video calling, gains Center Stage.

Finally, the Air 2 very likely deadends with iPadOS 15.

Why is deal coming up as expired? Its still up for sale at $299 on Walmart. I was able to price match this in store at bestbuy while picking up.

Might be brighter on paper but side by side the old Air 2 actually looks slightly brighter at max, might be due to the lamination allowing better light transmission or something but the new screen is not brighter. But the color gamut actually looks SLIGHTLY better on the new iPad.

The CPU jump and slightly larger size are the most noticeable things, the screen quality is similar despite not being laminated. Mostly just makes it thicker.

Just got mine today and so far I think if your budget is $300 it's a good value. I think you either get this or go all out and get the iPad Pro M1, the Air makes no sense. The mini makes sense if you don't mind the small size.

I ordered with the Chase Freedom 5% back at Walmart. Transfer to sapphire reserve and cash it out at 7.5%, Not bad.
