  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

what's the point of choosing a carrier if you pay almost full price lol

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

I have t mobile... i get that the upgrade is just buying the phone without updating the current plan I am on. However, my s21 ultra will remain my daily driver after buying this iphone 13 pro. My big question is, when I pay the phone off in full right away.. is it 40 days to unlock having to use the phone as my daily driver or activate once, swap the sim back to my s21 ultra and wait 40 days to get an unlock code doable?

also it seems like an upgrade only thing but you need to activate a new line with TMobile even if you are a customer. On TMO website you just upgrade the line, no need for activation of a new line. I think thats the difference. With BB u need to add a new line but on TMO you just upgrade existing one.
I don't have to add a new line on my side. I'm keeping the same plan and upgrading just the phone itself. On my order details it also stated that TMO KEEP EXISTING PLAN.

I see the extra $100 by selecting a carrier other than Tmobile in the page of "Tell us about the phone you are trading in" after I choose the upgrade option.

I submitted an order via "upgrade" to my specific line. You can see in the order info below that it says "TMO KEEP EXISTING PLAN", so yeah, it will have no impact on your plan for a phone upgrade to your specific line. I am trading in 11 Pro Max and the subtotal was $384.99.

In the below screenshot, it says T-Mobile Plan and then captioned, "These new charges will be added to your carrier bill and do not include all taxes, fees and surcharges". But as you can see, there were no changes to my plan listed. They really need to change that placeholder text to say something like "There are no new charges to your carrier bill" because that could really frighten customers. As a web developer, this is a bad user experience design for the customer, and Best Buy should really address that because the uninformed would probably cancel this order out of fear.

Great. Thank you!

My XR has a cracked back. Can't get a straight answer from the chat and the trade in calculator only asks about the phone turning on and whether the screen is cracked. Any ideas whether I can trade that in?

Just got off the phone with a T-MOBILE rep who told me I would get up to $800 trade in value for an iPhone 11 Pro on a T-Mobile One plan. The $800 would be a $300 trade in value that can be applied to the device or account, and $500 in bill credit over 30 months.

Was told that the One plan qualifies for the promotion and won't be forced to switch to the Magenta MAX.

If you're ok with the bill credit, which I am then it looks like T-Mobile is a better option. I'm upgrading 2 iPhone 11 Pro to a iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

FWIT: I've been with T-MOBILE for 15+ years now. Not sure if this made a difference.

Quick question.
Does this seem right ?

Trade in for my iPhone 11 Pro Max 256 it's unlocked but currently on T-Mobile. Upgrading a line.

515 + 100 ( promo ) : 615 trade in.

I thought it was a $200 promo ?
I tried changing the trade in to unlocked or Att and still getting the same value.

I can trade my wife's XR in directly at
T-Mobile and get $400 or I can go the Best Buy route and get $315 + $100 for $415. I guess that phone doesn't qualify for the extra $100 so not much of a deal over the carrier if you have an XR.

Edit: I see the extra $100 is for new lines/accounts. No deal here for me and I'll wait it out.
I believe the $100 is also referring to the discount off the MSRP?

Yes but there's an additional $100 for new lines/accounts.

So in theory you could sign up to Tmobile, activate it on 40th day and quit only paying for 2 months of service?

I tried but it won't even let me get past the account verification (phone number + last 4 of EIN)
For my business account, the last 4 of EIN does not work. Instead the passcode on the account works. But then I get "your account type is not supported" message afterwards. Same error for Apple Store too.

If you change the trade-in device's carrier to others(Sprint), you will see additional $100 trade-in value.

My iphone X camera is dead. Like when you open the app, its just a blank screen. No cracks on the screen. There are cracks on the backside corner closer to camera. Will best buy check those and reject when trading in?

In the trade in page, it only has only 2 defects that you can select - my phone does not turn and my phone has cracked screen

My phone turns on and screen is perfect. Its cracked on the back and both cameras dont work : /
