  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

what's the point of choosing a carrier if you pay almost full price lol

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Doesn't T-MOBILE do a really good trade in deal every so often? Not the normal one where u need the magenta but something like this where it's just straight up money off your new phone

Can someone help me with a couple of questions:

1. I'm using iPhone 12 Pro unlocked purchased from apple store. I'm on T-Mobile one plan. Can I trade in my iPhone 12 Pro as Verizon so I can get $800 for trade in and using T-Mobile as the carrier for activation, so the price of the phone comes down to $899. So after trade in I'll be paying $99 plus tax. Can I please know if I can choose Verizon option as trade in?

2. Can I please know if the plan we are on matters for T-Mobile?

3. I just see the option of add a line or upgrade when I try to checkout. What does upgrade mean over here? Change in plan or anything like that?

4. Will T-Mobile charge any fee or anything if I choose upgrade?

those were the Costco deals with the big rebates
They didn't do it for the 12 series

Tmobile does the bill credits.
last great deal was mothers day...trading an iPhone 8 for an iPhone 12 64gb
'free' after 24 bill credits

Can someone help me understand whether this is a great deal in my case? Thanks!

I am currently with Mint Mobile and prepaid for a whole year of 4G/month for $15/month. The plan is more than enough for me and I plan to stay with Mint Mobile.

So if I opt in for this deal, I will have to pay for $35 (activation fee) + $65 x 1.33 (which is T-mobile's lowest monthly plan for 40 days) = $121 Total before I can unlock it and go back to Mint Mobile.

So this kills the $100 discount right?

Unless I have a trade-in, this really isn't a good deal at all, correct? Am I missing something?

Thanks very much!

What are you referring to? $315 includes the $100 trade-in promo. Thats the correct value for iPhone XR? Without promo you will only get $215

Not great for new customers like you with just 1 line. Probably works great for those that are already with t-mobile on their $150 for 10 lines plan or something for years...

You can find that out by going to the check out page and attempt going through the process, they'll ask you if you want to trade in and tell you how much your old phone is worth before actually checking out

Looks like it's a one time payment. You would be prompted to sign an EIP or some sort of financing agreement should Best Buy offer some sort of discounted deal with monthly payments.

I tried to ask Apple for a price match, but they said they wouldn't for a 24 month financing agreement on Citizens One or an Apple Card purchase. They said to buy it outright for a price match and then wait for a trade in kit in the mail to send an old phone back and then get refunded the $ on the payment method.

To me, too many steps to go through Apple. I think these T-Mobile devices might be locked to T-Mobile and then it requires to get it unlocked through T-Mobile after a certain amount of time.
Apple does price matching?! Embarrassment

I don't know what the trick is to get Best Buy to send a verification text but nothing works. I have tried the suggestions in the Wiki too. Best Buy sends a canned response when I send help to the different numbers but still will not send anything when I request the verification to be sent. Email will not work either. Guess I will try in store at some point...

Upgraded line on T-Mobile ONE. Traded in iPhone 6 for $150 (plus the additional $100). Thank you!
It didn't show iPhone 6s as option for me, how did you trade-in iPhone 6?

Edit: I see it if I click on tmobile/tradein bestbuy link only

For my business account, the last 4 of EIN does not work. Instead the passcode on the account works. But then I get "your account type is not supported" message afterwards. Same error for Apple Store too.
Do you have a corporate/employer discount on your account? I've heard this can also cause the error. From the previous iphone 12 best buy deal thread some members were able to have Tforce make some sort of account change which then enabled them to purchase from Bestbuy. That member mentioned they used to have a discount on their account a long time back, and was at one point a business account. It's one of these two things flagging our accounts in their system. I'm not willing to lose my plan discount if that's what the hold up is.
