  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

what's the point of choosing a carrier if you pay almost full price lol

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Thanks - so does it mean we won't get option/time to do transfer from old phone to new phone in store during trade in?
I'm not sure. I dont feel like to spend 2 hrs there for the transfer.

I'm in a similar situation
Have a 12 pro to trade, thinking of the 13 pro max
Never really used a pro max before but this deal is a bit too good to pass up.
I've been using big phones for a while (s21 ultra, note 20 ultra, 12 pro max, etc..) and after using the iphone 12, which is same size as PRO, I don't think I'll go big anymore.

I'm a regular sized dude, but my fingers/hands didn't get that "tired" feeling when using the smaller phone, which is VERY VERY refreshing. I don't watch videos for entertainment purposes so thats also another reason why going smaller isn't a big deal. The 12/13 Pro Max will REALLY tire out your hand especially due to the squared edges. There's a reason why the PRO was extremely popular last year.

Contacted T-Mobile "Expert" via chat to figure out what is happening with the "We're sorry, but your account type isn't supported with Best Buy" via BB.

1) First wants to sell me the MaxUp $15/m line upgrade to do the upgrade instead to ignore the error. Which is kinda BS as I am on a One plan, so I guess it would be OnePlus then and not MaxUp since I am on a One plan and I don't think you can use a current mixup offer on an older plan.
2) Then confesses they don't have any visibility into the 3rd party app and does not know why I get the error.
3) Then tries to offer me the 1/2 off pro offer from the website.

Wasted 1 1/2 hours via very slow chat. I will have to check the Apple offer then in more detail if this is essentially almost the same.

Good to know, thanks. I will then keep trying...
It happened to me also, I use the chat function and told them the problem, and they have someone from the mobile phone service gave me a call. The service operator said there is some problem with the online service since Bestbuy just added T-mobile back to their service. So, they did the purchase and exchange over the phone with me done in 5 minutes.

For what it matters, I did the upgrade and trade in last night. We are on the simple choice plan with the 15% work/corporate/affiliate discount. Everything went through smoothly. They did require text msg verifications twice and that went through smoothly as well.

Will the trade in value be applied right away once you go to bestbuy to pickup the new phone or it would be over 24 months bill credits?

It looks like a wash if I get a 13 Pro with trading in my 11 Pro from Apple ($999 - $450 = $550 *.97 = $532 - $200 T-Mo bill credits = $332.53)
vs
Best Buy: $899 - $560 (in-store, instant discount) = $339.

Avoiding the hassle of trading into Apple (safe) and T-Mo bill Credits (2 years, watching for them) vs. maybe an hour* in Best Buy might be a good investment of my time.

*I've never had a good phone experience in Best Buy...

Did they text you through the primary account phone number or your #?

So I have family plan and I am the primary account holder but I have another line in my account that needs upgrade, so first we have to login with primary number and then select whichever number to upgrade? Also who will get the text, primary line or line to upgrade? Thanks.

I upgraded my primary line, so it went there. I might upgrade one of the other lines later, but not sure as of now.

I don't think you need to do that since the upgrade is through Best Buy. Again, I only upgraded my primary line last night so I can't speak with certainty on the other lines. I might do that later.

I read last few pages but could not figure out the deal in my situation. Sorry If this has been answered before...

I have iPhone 8 and iPhone SE on TMobile Simple Choice plan, I would like to get iPhone 13 on both, is it possible without changing my plan? What will be my final cost if I trade at best buy?

Paid only $100+tax for 13 pro 128gb by trade in 12 pro 128gb with my current t mobile one plan.
I don't think there is any better deal than this.
As Apple is also doing the same but giving $640 trade in value plus $200 from tmobile so $840 total value for my 12 pro

This deal requires no change to plan. I am also on SimpleChoice plan and was able to order for two lines, no change to plan. For the cost, go through the process and put in the phone you want to trade and it will tell you the price.
