  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

How long will it be locked to T-mobile
I checked this last two years. You have to pay off the phone first then stay with them for a year. Unless they changed it.

I'm just double checking… doing a T-Mobile upgrade will not change my rate plan?? I have this awesome grandfathered T-Mobile one plan and I don't want it to mess it up with all the discounts and free lines….
Correct, no change to plan. I am also on Grandfathered and it did not show any changes when ordering.

Literally just did that! Doubled my storage and got a brand new longer lasting battery and better video recording for $75 was a no brainer

Thinking about it; though the $370 extra for the 13 Pro is really appealing...

Does anyone know if best buy will charge activation fees or it's included in the price ?
Just pop your current sim card into the phone and you are good to go. BB will charge you a fee if you want them to do it.

Or if you are adding a new line, there is a link to activate the new line. Need to enter the new sim card details and you are good to go. https://www.t-mobile.com/support/.../sim-cards

So if I have the 12 mini on T-Mobile EIP getting bill credits, I just call them and pay it off and can do this for $75 and continue getting the bill credits as long as remaining with T-Mobile ?

So when Friday comes, will we just get an email stating the phone(s) is ready for pickup and then go show up? Or will an appt be needed? I have 4 phones I ordered to upgrade and I'd imagine the BB store will be swamped with pickups and will take a little while for each phone/trade-in.

For people in California, do you have to pay FULL TAX ON MSRP ? or do you have to pay tax on the amount that you owe?

Some people said they have to pay full tax. Some people said they only have to pay taxes on the price difference of the trade-in value.

We have 10% taxes in my area. It would be $100 only in taxes.

Yes do that and I would stay away from Pro Max unless you're OK with huge phones.
