  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

I'm on simple choice, government discount and multiple EIPs. I was able to order 3 phones without issue on Friday. I actually ordered all 3 phones on the same line which already has an EIP on it.

I don't think EIPs have anything to do with it since Best Buy does not have access to your account at that level. I believe all they can verify is that you have an active T-mobile account. Best Buy can't do anything to the account, which is why they're only able to sell the phones at full price.
Did you do the upgrades instore or online?

I chatted with TForce last night and they said the gov discount does prevent best buy from accessing my account. They told me to call 611 to have the gov discount removed to change my account. 611 told me it would take a full billing cycle, not 24 hours, before the account type changes.
That would be a bummer, why so long? That said, it's still on my account. I will get it off now, who knows what other deals might be coming this Fall season I might be missing. In 3 months post BF/CM/holiday season we could always put it back.

How long would I have to keep service with T-Mobile?

I have a phone I want to trade in using this promotion but I have cell service via a family plan with Cricket that I don't want to leave.

Can I trade in my old phone, get the new iPhone, pay for one month of T-Mobile service + pay the price of the phone after trade-in, and then leave and take the new iPhone to Cricket?

Haha just simple curiosity no more! I have same trade in phone but am on USMobile ($15/moth 5GB) so I want to buy and leave as soon as I can. This seems by far the best deal for me and those that want to bail quickly. That $975 trade in is hard to pass up for anyone. I was going to sell my iPhone 12 Pro Max on Swappa but prices have declined below this now. Think it's time to pull the trigger. Probably for you too ha!

How are you getting 975? Are you factoring the $100 off as 975?

Do i have to do this one line at a time? Checkout to completion and then do the 2nd line. When i tried in the same transaction I got an error.

If that's the case then I have no idea what the issue with our account is. We have the simple choice plan with gov't discount. Each line has active bill credits from 5G upgrade or mother's day iphone promotion. I confirmed via FB chat we have an individual regular account, not a business account. Anyways, thanks for the information. This is beyond frustrating! I just want to know how to clear this up for any future deals at BB.

I wouldn't skip this deal because of color choice. I'm assuming you'll be putting it in a case anyway? It's a really good deal and there's no guarantees you'll see another deal as good that doesn't involve bill credits.

Keep us updated when you go and pick up your new phones from Best Buy.
Here are my thoughts,

When you trade your phone to Best Buy it becomes their property.
If there's money owed on it (EIP) that traded phone is useless to them. Nobody else can use it since IMEI flags it as not a cleared/paid phone and can not be activated.
So maybe Best Buy has some sort of agreement with T-Mobile on these EIP traded phones or they plan to trash them.
