just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

what's the point of choosing a carrier if you pay almost full price lol

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

That I do not know. The safer way would be to go through Best Buy. Won't have to deal with credits at all.
You're right. But the additional $500 credit on top of the trade in credit is indeed tempting. Lol.

Can you please elaborate on how you got Magenta to Magenta Max, while keeping the free lines? When I tried to convert few months back, they said I would have to pay for all lines, even if there were free lines from Magenta.
I've tried several methods: text messaging from the app and calling in but neither worked correctly. A few months ago I was trying to upgrade from old Magenta to the newer better Magenta for the same price. Either the rep gave me wrong info saying it couldnt be done. One told me it was already active free of charge(it wasn't). Another told me I would lose all my promos(only if done incorrectly).

T-Force is the tmobile twitter customer service. Follow them and DM(direct message) them then it'll lead you to some website to log in and connect your account.

They are by far the best at resolving issues correctly.

I told them I wanted to upgrade and they told me it could be done. It did take 3 hours to do but mainly bc the price they quoted me per month was wrong two times. They are busy now so expect 30 minutes for responses.

Tell them you want to upgrade to magenta max and want to keep your free lines.
My suggestion is you calculate what your magenta max cost should be so you know if it's right. Don't assume it will be right.

To do this you have to sign up thru t-mobile first correct? where can i find details on t-mobile $500 credit?
I mentioned two separate things. One is the 20% insider discount and the other is Magenta Max.

To get the 20% off, you or a significant other need to sign up for new service and put in the code. I believe it works best if you port in from another carrier

The other is Magenta Max. As long as you are on this plan, you get $500 from tmobile on top of your trade in offer from Apple as long as you trade in iphone x or newer.

If youre on any other plan, you get $200 instead. Go to apple.com, select t mobile phone and you'll see Special Carrier Deals.
So in my case, I'm on Magenta Max and i have an iphone 12 pro max so i'll get $1290 for my trade in which is more than what i paid for the phone in the first place.

Here's the info:
T-Mobile Special Trade-in Deal
Get $400 - $1290 in credit after trade-in.
Credit will be applied to your T-Mobile service plan.
Here's how to get this deal:
Trade in an iPhone X or newer (in good condition) with Apple.
Authorize activation with T‑Mobile when you buy your new iPhone.
After you place your order, change your service plan to Magenta Max directly with T‑Mobile.
Once your order is complete, you'll get an email with details on how to claim your credit.
See deal details

What is the deal?
For a limited time, when you buy your new iPhone from Apple and trade in an iPhone X or newer, you'll receive additional bill credits from T‑Mobile/Sprint — on top of your Apple trade-in credit. Get a $500 bill credit from T‑Mobile/Sprint when you keep or switch to the Magenta Max plan, or a $200 bill credit if you stay with another plan.
A few examples of how much you can save:
Trade in iPhone X: Get up to $700 in total credit. That's $200 in Apple trade-in credit, plus your qualifying bill credit.
Trade in iPhone 11: Get up to $840 in total credit. That's $340 in Apple trade-in credit, plus your qualifying bill credit.
Trade in iPhone 12 Pro Max: Get up to $1290 in total credit. That's $790 in Apple trade-in credit, plus your qualifying bill credit.
How do I get the deal?
Choose to connect now with T‑Mobile or Sprint when you buy your iPhone from Apple
Trade in an iPhone X or newer (in good condition)
Authorize activation
Change or confirm your plan with T‑Mobile/Sprint
Submit your promo code (which we'll send you via email) to promotions.t‑mobile.com
How do I qualify for the Magenta Max $500 bill credits?
Keep or change your plan to Magenta Max within 30 days of your order shipment or in-store pickup date directly with T‑Mobile/Sprint.
How does the trade-in credit work?
You'll receive two different trade-in credits — one from Apple and one from T‑Mobile/Sprint.

Apple trade-in credit
When you trade in with Apple, you'll get an estimated trade-in value. If you pay monthly, that value will be applied as an instant credit to lower your monthly payments. If you pay in full, your payment method will be credited after your trade-in is received.

T‑Mobile/Sprint trade-in credit
Once you've confirmed your plan, completed your trade-in, and submitted your promo code, your bill credit will be applied to your plan over 24 months.

I'm on the chat line with TM right. Let's see if they can change the type without losing the discount. I would also like for them to confirm if I can change it back once my upgrade went through.

UPDATE: Got a reply
" I wish that was an option, but once you switch off the discount program / government discount it would be lost forever as the percentile discount portion of the program ceased being offered in 2014 and you've continued to be enrolled because you had it already when it ceased being offered. If you were to change it or change to a non-qualifying plan, then you would no longer fall into that category and would lose the percentile discount. ^ReggieReese"
Thanks for checking! I had a feeling this was going to be their response. With $15/month savings, it doesn't make sense to drop the discount to save a couple hundred upfront.

So is there anyone who actually traded-in "t-mobile" financed phone for a new phone (whether it's samsung or apple) at BestBuy and had an issue? Anyone with experience? It sounds right that going with BestBuy would not cause any issue for trading-in EIP phone in this particular promotion arrangement (no installment payment, buying at full price, no monthly credit), but are we just all talking in theory? or is there a live example that it is no issue specifically at Best Buy? (not at other stores or in general)

I asked 3 different T-Mo rep about this, and they all said I will lose credit if I trade in an EIP fully paid phone (paid early) that still has Credit's on it. I am getting the credit now, but not upgrading it due to losing the current credits.
You should always take what the reps say with a grain of salt. Most of the people on this board are far more knowledgeable about what really happens.

With that said, what the rep is technically correct. You arent supposed to have two EIPs active at one time. However, there are some who have done it but it's probably not worth risking IMO.

However, when you pay off your EIP, any remaining credits move from the line level to your account level. You will receive them there. So as the rep said, you will lose the credits for the line, but they show up elsewhere. Once that happens, you can sign up for a new phone. EIP without issue. The one thing I don't know is how long until the credits move there since this year was my first time doing it. I would estimate 1 day after payoff of EIP is probably sufficient, but I don't know for sure.

I have seen screenshots of someone who had 12 sets of EIP credits hitting their account at one time.

Also keep in mind that tmobile can change this rule at any time and disallow two credits at one time. But that would be a departure from their current practice and probably a nightmare to fix at this point unless they move to a brand new system.

I'm the one with 2 EIP in 1 line.....

Both get credit. And I placed 2 orders at Bestbuy this time with another line ( I only have this one with me to receive text msg from BB).

Yes. Significantly better battery (2-3+ hours), more memory and better camera for ~$250.

You are far braver than me. I'm not really content to risk hundreds of dollars in case the credits get lost.

For this reason, I just keep adding free lines onto my plan. Now that I'm on Magenta Max I can add up to 10 free lines.

This time, I had two EIPs on two different lines, I paid it off, then will trade those into two different lines in order to make sure there aren't any problems with the EIP credits.
If I could only find those two missing SIM cards, I'll be ready to upgrade them with the next great deal.

I was thinking about upgrading 12 mini to 13 or 13 pro because the battery life is lame and not excited about 12 mini….its on EIP…so if I just call up T-Mobile and pay it off in full, those credits will move to account level?

Also I'm on one plus…if I move to magenta max will I get screwed?….I've got 5 phone lines and 1 tablet line all with kickback and unlimited everything for like $160-180 depending if I get all the kickback

Thank you for the response. I was able to contact T-Mobile via chat and they confirmed I am able to keep the free lines from Mangenta and so the new price would be $140 from $120. I was almost ready to change my plan to take advantage of the additional $500 credits because these credits will negate the price change in the plan. However, the rep said I will need to pay off the EIP I owe on the lines as the $500 bill credits won't stack. I am confused by this because, the $500 is not EIP. We buy it outright from Apple. Have you had a similar experience? Do you know if we can stack EIP credits and the $500 credit?
