just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

I have an EIP balance on an iPhone 12 Pro on AT&T. I'm getting $26/month bill credits on this line. Can anyone confirm if I can trade this 12 pro into apple towards a 13 pro max, that I pay outright with apple that I WILL NOT lose my monthly credits from AT&T when the 12 pro becomes a 13 pro max on my line? Note that I am not "upgrading" with AT&T.

I was thinking about upgrading 12 mini to 13 or 13 pro because the battery life is lame and not excited about 12 mini….its on EIP…so if I just call up T-Mobile and pay it off in full, those credits will move to account level?
You should be able to pay it off online too.

Save a copy of this somewhere in case it goes south and you need written proof for arbitration.

Thanks for this!

I'm tempted to see if magenta max will be a scam compared to my current one plus plan with free tablet line and 2 free phone lines currently…can I check what the monthly rate would be through T-Mobile site or need to go into store?

Thank you for the response. I was able to contact T-Mobile via chat and they confirmed I am able to keep the free lines from Mangenta and so the new price would be $140 from $120. I was almost ready to change my plan to take advantage of the additional $500 credits because these credits will negate the price change in the plan. However, the rep said I will need to pay off the EIP I owe on the lines as the $500 bill credits won't stack. I am confused by this because, the $500 is not EIP. We buy it outright from Apple. Have you had a similar experience? Do you know if we can stack EIP credits and the $500 credit?
I am not entirely certain how it'll show up on our accounts, but I'd bet it comes in as a EIP credit or something similar. So if you have two EIP credits maybe it won't work. I wouldnt take the chance with it. Someone else said they have two EIPs on a line but i'm not willing to gamble for $500.

To be safe, you should just pay off the EIP balance ASAP and then get your $500 when you trade in a phone x or newer

Here's the text from apple's website:
For a limited time, when you buy your new iPhone from Apple and trade in an iPhone X or newer, you'll receive additional bill credits from T‑Mobile/Sprint — on top of your Apple trade-in credit. Get a $500 bill credit from T‑Mobile/Sprint when you keep or switch to the Magenta Max plan

All valid points. Thanks for the suggestion. It appears a combination of both Apple and Best Buy would be the best approach in my case. Change the plan to Magenta Max and take advantage of the $500 additional credit to cover the plan change on one of my line that has no EIP attached. On the lines that do have the EIP, upgrade through Best Buy so it doesn't conflict with the in progress credits.

Personally I know I don't need Magenta Max but for the extra credits, it's worth it for me.
I'd bet most 95% of ppl don't need it but tmo needs to make more money so any way they can they need to do it.

And by giving away all the free lines, they need to find a way to get ppl to pay more per line.

I'd suggest using T-Force (through twitter) to contact them and see what they can do about the free tablet line. They might tell you it's not possible but you never know. They are by far the most knowledgeable out of all the modes I tried.

And suppose I DID switch to Magenta Max, is Best Buy still the best offer or is it better to go through Apple or T-Mobile then?

For those upgrading to Magenta Max plan to take advantage of the $500 promo, run the numbers first. You still get $200 with the regular promo. So you should only upgrade if your marginal cost over 2 years would be less than $300. For me, it was $360 so staying on my regular Magenta plan and getting $200 off was the better deal (even though I ended up going with Best Buy after all).

Source as in you can see if a phone is financed via IMEI?
Best Buy will deny a trade in due to being financed?

For the first, you can either pay for an IMEI check service or use the below free methods. For the second, all I know is if they check the IMEI number they can see the phone is financed or not. Whether they deny you or not is up to the employee.
No, I'm asking for a source that BB won't accept the phone with outstanding t-mobile EIP. If you don't have a credible source or have experienced yourself then don't speculate.

I'm the one with 2 EIP in 1 line.....

Both get credit. And I placed 2 orders at Bestbuy this time with another line ( I only have this one with me to receive text msg from BB).
I was thinking about doing that (placing multiple orders with the same number) but didn't want to risk it.
Good luck! Please let us know if it works out.

I think it depends on what phone you are trading in. If you do iphone x or newer, then it'll probably be Apple.com

It really depends on what you trade in. I can only tell you the best 12 pro max best deal is at apple. It's $290 more than tmobile.

I have a Note 20U that was paid off. The Tmobile site gave me this message when I checked the IMEI and same result for Iphone 12 pro that was paid off.

"We can't confirm that this device is unblocked. Please contact the original wireless carrier for information about the device's status."
