  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Is anyone else getting like $860 trade in credit for an iPhone SE 2020? That's the value I'm getting when I'm looking to upgrade my sons phone.
I got $180+ $100 trade in discount. Are you sure you're imputing the right phone info?

I did see 64G SE T-Mobile for 860 dollars at check out process just now. But since they'll likely check through everything again I doubt it'll be easy to eventually get the value though…

I wasn't planning on staying with Metro for that long, since there was the instant rebate. After trading the iPhone SE 2020, the iPhone 12 Mini out the door was $110.
I will say that's smart choice , I'm planning trade with 12 mini , I already pay three month services now , but the third month just start and haven't got my rebate via text message yet , that make me little trouble .

Both of my orders still say "Ready for Pickup on Release Date: Today" "Pre-ordered, we'll let you know when your pre-order is ready." I've been waiting all day. I'm in the Los Angeles area, so I just assume they're dealing with lots of orders.

I am giving up now. I had the "type not supported error" last Sunday and then dealt with T-Mobile support via chat and T-Force Sun/Mon/Tue/Wed to remove the old corp volume discount and switch the account from GSA to Individual Regular. Since then (Wed) getting new error "We're sorry, there was an issue processing your request. Please try again later." Nobody can help. Yesterday went to BB store and employee got account error on the screen there as well. Said he has seen some random errors and essentially the integration is too new, has some issues, and nobody knows why it hits some accounts but not others.

So be it. The deal is not bad but not perfect, I will hope for better outcomes moving forward once they have T-Mobile in store and fix the integration. That said, I think it was good for me to remove the useless old government discount from the account that did not save anything any longer. Let's hope though nothing else got screwed up. Anytime someone on the T-Side does some changes I get a heart attack as things went wrong before so I will need to monitor billing moving forward. They assured me all is well though ... ;-)

PSA: There's a 24 hour 'cooldown' for T-Mobile to verify you if you cancel an order and try place a new one.

I Tried to move my blue mini order with a pickup on the 30th to a Best Buy with a blue mini sitting right in front of me. Not only can they not change pickup locations in store or on the phone, but the cooldown would not let me cancel and rebuy the phone. Thankfully I was cautious enough to not cancel the order and the guys working there let me know about the cooldown thing. Ridiculous.
