  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

My store wasn't able to do my trade in for the iPhone 13 pro. Some tech issues between best buy and T-Mobile. I waited 45 minutes while they were on hold, then eventually told them to cancel the order. Now I'm off to the apple store instead. I won't be using bestbuy for trade in again.
What a freaking nightmare. Same happened to me.

Was looking to trade an iPhone 12 Pro for an iPhone 13 Pro and after 90 minutes of waiting they tell me the same thing about some technical issues.

Is anyone else getting like $860 trade in credit for an iPhone SE 2020? That's the value I'm getting when I'm looking to upgrade my sons phone.
I did and went to pick up the phone and spent almost 1.5 hours there. They tried everything including calling the escalation line and the manager even tried to help but they couldn't get that value.

For you that plans to use old sim card, and saving the new one that came with the iPhone 13, DON'T

According to Tmobile, old sim might not compatible properly with the 5G signal, to make sure your old sim card works with 5G, pop it out and check whether it says R15 or not

Might be a bogus to make people buy new sim card? I don't know

I did see 64G SE T-Mobile for 860 dollars at check out process just now. But since they'll likely check through everything again I doubt it'll be easy to eventually get the value though…
I spent almost 1.5 hours there and they tried everything they could but couldn't get that value.

Is this after you successfully got the trade in value on the online order, then Best Buy store couldn't get the price to match the online value?

I'm surprised they moved heaven and earth for you to get $860 for an iPhone SE whereas the rep I got shut me down pretty much right away.

For all the people who got their phones today did u feel the colors in person were just as good as you anticipated looking at them online. Or did u get a feeling u should have ordered a diff color.
If so what color u got and wht u rather have?

For me I really liked the seirra blue and silver all this while but today when I saw all the pro colors in real I'm leaning towards graphite.

I went to the Apple store to see the colors. I cancelled my early pre-orders for a Gold Pro. The Sierra Blue would be my second choice but it didn't look as premium as the Gold, but certainly it's a good color. I also wanted a 13 mini initially, and ordered Starlight. Starlight actually looks pretty good in person; white back and a champagne band. Pink looked sort of white in YouTube videos but in person it was most definitely pink; pretty for a girl but you can't rock it as a guy. The Blue was nice too. I felt for the red they went tomato red last year to a red that's way too dark this year. I didn't really check out the Midnight as I didn't have any interest in it.

That 120Hz display is why I decided the Pro would be better. Real difference.

Just wasted 3 hours in driving there and back + waiting for them to try to process the trade which kept giving a value of $0 ($150 should be applied as per online order) and not a clue on how to resolve it. Then wasting a good 40 minutes for rep on the phone to figure it out and come back with nothing. Then only to be told that there is nothing they can do and system must be down and come back some other day.

Online order said ready for pick up, I checked in online and there didn't appear to be any issues and order was ready. Thus why I went.

What a cluster F and a total waste of time and gas.

BestBuy probably wanted the extra traffic in the stores. It's more of a hassle to do it in-person but the trade-in is completed immediately. You don't have to worry about getting rejected or lost.

They only ask for the last 4 digits of SSN, no fingerprints. The fingerprints requirement seems kind of weird though.
Do you know if they are picky about the carrier the trade in is attached to? I have a locked iPhone Mini 12 with Metro, but was wondering if that would fall under "T-Mobile" from their website trade in options.

You do need to have a newer SIM to get access to standalone 5G. Some older SIM also support it.
SA 5G is still very rare and it currently gives similar performance to NSA 5G, so whether your SIM supports SA 5G doesn't matter much at the moment.
