just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

What a freaking nightmare. Same happened to me.

Was looking to trade an iPhone 12 Pro for an iPhone 13 Pro and after 90 minutes of waiting they tell me the same thing about some technical issues.
Wow….same happened to me with my preordered 13 Pro when I picked up the phone! But he was able to cancelled my preorder then waited for 15 minutes to refresh their system and finally finished the in store trade in without issues.

I went to the Apple store to see the colors. I cancelled my early pre-orders for a Gold Pro. The Sierra Blue would be my second choice but it didn't look as premium as the Gold, but certainly it's a good color. I also wanted a 13 mini initially, and ordered Starlight. Starlight actually looks pretty good in person; white back and a champagne band. Pink looked sort of white in YouTube videos but in person it was most definitely pink; pretty for a girl but you can't rock it as a guy. The Blue was nice too. I felt for the red they went tomato red last year to a red that's way too dark this year. I didn't really check out the Midnight as I didn't have any interest in it.

That 120Hz display is why I decided the Pro would be better. Real difference.
Did u see any noticeable difference between 120 Hz and 60 Hz. I spent quite some time at the Apple store playing around with pro and non pro models. Not sure I could make out any discernible difference. Maybe I didn't test them the way it's supposed to be done.

You are right I too didn't feel Seirra blue to be as premium. It's good but too light.
Surprisingly I liked the gold just that it's band has some bling.

120Hz is definitely noticeable and in my opinion so addictive. Upgrading from 12 pro max only for the display. I have never used a ipad with 120Hz.

Sierra Blue is just Meh, Looks gray in some angles. Gold is surprisingly good.

The Apple store I went to had a 13 Regular and Pro next to each other so I was just swiping around on both at the same time. Pro is buttery smooth. Pro Max was too unwieldly for me.

Received my email that phone was ready about 5 PM at local BB. Arrived at 7ish to pick up the Pre-order (mid-night and starlight). The guy working at the mobile counter scanned my bar codes for the pre-order and examine the trades, out by 20 minutes. Came home, restored from the iCloud, could not make or receive calls or text messages. When online to BB order status clicked activate phone and enter the IMEI number. That Starlight when well without an issue, kept getting invalid imei for the mid-night. When on the T-Mobile website for my account, hit update SIM, entered the new sim number. 30 seconds after finishing, both phones working and on the t-mobile website the updated imei and phone models showed up.

Do you know if they are picky about the carrier the trade in is attached to? I have a locked iPhone Mini 12 with Metro, but was wondering if that would fall under "T-Mobile" from their website trade in options.
They didn't ask for the carrier. The guy entered the IMEI in the computer and it loaded the model and the trade-in credit shows up on the screen. I also selected Verizonwhen I preordered but traded a T-Mobile iphone. I don't think the carrier matters at all.

Same boat. Ordered on the 19th and waiting for the Tukwila store. Still nothing yet.
Ordered 1 on 17th and another one on 18th. Both statuses are stating "This item has been delayed. We're working to get it to you within the next few days." at the Tukwila store.

The store I went to also said there were technical issues activating the sim cards. I told them I will call T-Mobile myself to activate. They gave me the phone unopened and a new sim card.

I just use my old sim since I have the new R15 sim and everything works fine.

I also had trouble with my trade in on T-Mobile today. They put it in but then couldn't release the 13 because the system had not processed it. They called the "bridge" and confirmed this was a national problem. I waited and they kept trying and finally got it through. However, I am not on the network. Messaging says I am signed out of iMessage and when I check settings for iMessage is says my number is verifying(for hours now), if I try to make a call, it goes to t-mobile.

what do I need to do?

I wonder if we can change colors once we're in Best Buy getting phone? Assuming all colors in stock.

If anyone is curious, I did activate the phone with tracfone sim card after checking out from BestBuy. Not sure if Tmobile will come after me but everything is working fine.
Could you check Settings->General->About-> Carrier Lock , does it says No sim restrictions, or locked to tracfone?

I did see 64G SE T-Mobile for 860 dollars at check out process just now. But since they'll likely check through everything again I doubt it'll be easy to eventually get the value though…
Seems like glitch . I got 280 not 820
