  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

For those with an iPhone SE it might be worth it to go through the process, get the $800+ trade in receipt, print it / screenshot it. Go to the store, they will give you the updated value but go through with the purchase, write declined in the signature box. Then contact your CC to chargeback the difference of what your print out says

can tracfone unlock it?
It will follow Tracfone's unlock policy. But Tracfone might not unlock it because you didn't purchase it from them and their CS isn't that great.

There's is nothing to sign in store. They won't let you pay the difference and there's no way to do that since you paid online. They will just cancel the old order and put in a new one. Besides, chargeback can take weeks and if you get rejected and the return window has closed, you will be stuck with an overpriced iphone you dont need.

I'm not sure what you mean. I used my existing T-Mobile sim since it's the newest R15 5G sim and I don't need to swap sims. If you activated a new line of service for this deal, then yes you will get a monthly bill from T-Mobile regardless of whether you use the sim or not. You will need to call T-Mobile to cancel service and they will send you a prorated bill.
I bought iphone13 with new account essential plan. As I heard, T-mobile phone from Bestbuy will be locked to the first sim card inserted into it.
If I insert visible sim, it will locked to visible. In this situation, this phone cannot be used for new T-mobile sim card come with iphone 13.
Will T-mobile charge monthly fee for this new SIM ?

My phone is ready. What happens if you click I'm at the store? Do they dedicate someone to help you?
If you're doing tade-in, nope. Just go to a person to sign you in to see a mobile person.

Just to confirm, is this based on store inventory only, as in I can't order ship to store and then trade in? I can't find any 13 Pro Max in any color in stock in NYC rn

I have a iphone 12 pro from t-mobile on EIP with credits. I am planning to pay it off and trade in for this. Anyone has done this and did that change plan or credit?

Man, I actually do have a SE2 64gb white that I bought from T-Mobile. Fully paid off and all. Very tempting to try.

You will need to call T-Mobile to cancel. The service is activated already.

Just order online because I don't think they have extra inventory in-store.

You can pay it off now or continue the EIP monthly payments, Bestbuy doesn't check anyway. But it cannot be a blacked listed phone because they will do a factory reset when you trade-in. You will still continue to receive the credits as long as your line is active.

I have the blue iphone 13 pro max in my cart cart and it says "Only available for store pickup" and when I click store availability, there are none for 250 miles lol, same for the gold iphone 13 pro max. Am I out of luck?

I traded in my iPhone 12 with EIP and credits yesterday without paying it off with no issue at all. My account still looks the same as it did yesterday with the EIP/credits continuing and it shows the new phone on that line.

I wouldn't pay it off. I'm sure there's mixed info about this but I asked a tmobile rep yesterday and she told me that my credits are attached to my devices payment plan. See attached screenshots

I have paid few phones in last 6 month and i continue to receive credit. I would have thought that it is a requirement as they won't let you trade in something you don't own and not paid off. Anyway i paid anyway before i saw this message so and will see.

I was able to trade an almost new iPhone 12 Mini for a brand new 13 mini that is still in the box. I did it as an "upgrade" to my wife's existing TMo account so I just have to monitor to see if she needs the new SIM card she picked up with the mini. I will leave it in the box while I monitor the idea of putting in one of my Visible cards since they just recently stopped selling unlocked phones in favor of a policy of locking for three month's service.

I don't have confidence in a 40 day unlock from TMo since I will be a new account holder. On my 55th birthday I am going to do a "BOGO" at Costco for the Unlimited MAX 55+ and will use both iPhone 13s for forty days to see about unlock. If the mystery of the SIM gimmick is not solved by then I can always swap a 13 for the 13 Mini.

Thanks,

Dan
