just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Ordered on 9/18 for the 13 Pro Max 256GB Sierra Blue. Received an email for pick up on the 24th (originally it said the 28th).

Went to the store for pickup on 9/25. They had 5 associates assisting customers. I was the second one on line. I didn't wait more than 2 minutes and the whole transaction took less than 10 minutes. The associate did not ask me for fingerprinting neither the last 4 digits of any SS - simply just an ID. I traded in my sons 8 plus. It was a very pleasant surprise. He mentioned that we may end up having to activate the SIM and it may not be working properly (he said it would be a 30% slim chance that it would work). Box was sealed.

As he said, the SIM didn't work. I logged into T-Mobile and activated the SIM. Took less than 5 minutes and everything worked properly.

All the review sites mentioned the same it's not worth the upgrade from 12 to 13. Even going from 11 to 13 is a similar experience.

Nothing against people who change their phone every year to have the latest model. Just don't expect anything earth shattering.

I personally use my phone 3-4 years. Currently on iPhone X. Will definitely feel the upgrade when I move to 13.
I jumped from an 11 to a 13 and absolutely feel the improvement even though it's not insanely different overall; just feels smoother, snappier, more efficient. Sometimes the "newness" is due to the new ios of course, but hardware wise anything 2 cycles later should be somewhat noticeable IMO

I actually notice the slight change in size a lot (for me it works as the 11 was just a little too large for my hand)

Any one has issue with the trade in Value offered online not matching the value in the system? I mean the phone condition is perfect but they don't see the value which was promised online when I went to pick up my order.

Was told it doesn't matter, you already paid online. When they printed me a receipt, it showed the trade-in promotional value on there.

But the store person told me that he can't sell me because the system wont allow it...

They wouldn't give me $858 for an iPhone SE either, but that's obviously a glitch. I would say come back later when someone else is there, or order from another store if they refuse.

The iphone SE shows $964 for my 128GB. They didn't sell me the phone but said they will call me back
I preordered a 13 Promax 256 GB for my wife on 19th with a 12 Promax Trade in. The trade in Value for 12 Promax was $875. I hope they agree to that as my order will be ready to be picked up on the 28th as per BB app

Yes, the 12 Pro Max is supposed to have a trade in value for $875. The $964 value for an iPhone SE is clearly wrong, and they caught it. In the other thread someone got a manager override for it, but obviously, don't expect them to give you $964 that's almost double the phone's retail price.

Went first thing when the store opened. Box was unopened with a new T-Mobile SIM card taped to the box. Total time to trade in and walk out about 15-20 min. The Best Buy rep never opened the box. No issues trading in my current phone that's on a TMo EIP. Had to manually activate the SIM online afterwards since it didn't automatically activate when I put in the new SIM as the Best Buy rep said. Pretty straightforward all things considered.

The upgrade is no big deal to me. Only reason I'm doing it is because of the "possible" trade in value next year. Had I not gotten the Visible deal last year for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, I would've kept my phone same 3-4 years. But last year was $200 gift card, minus 15% cashback which did come, several referrals at $15 each and free headphones which I sold for $175. So new iPhone 12 Pro Max out of pocket was around $500 last year. That won't happen again.

This upgrade to an iPhone 13 Pro Max is $134. Though I Shirley don't need it, I would do this every year for $134.
