  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Anyone have any luck with the T-Mobile trade in today? 3 days passed and Best Buy still can't solve their back end issue. Horrible experience.

FYI, I had a successful trade-in on Sunday with 3 different lines. The experience couldn't have been smoother - took about 30 mins - since the store called me on Thursday to set up an appointment, I didn't even have to wait when I went in.

Unfortunately, it's a different story at the Atlantic Brooklyn BB. Went in Saturday and Sunday and got turned around.

The applecare warranty initially stated 10/17, but has now changed to 9/24 (even though I only activated on 9/25). Has anyone else seen this happen to their phones?

What error(s) are people getting? I had two morons helping me on Friday and they couldn't figure out how to get it to work. First the new SIM card wouldn't scan so they couldn't proceed with the process. Luckily a third less dumb moron had figured out earlier that if you remove the letter from the SIM card number that pops up when you scan it'll let you proceed.

Then they couldn't scan in the order number to complete the trade in, which needs to happen first before proceeding with the order. Any time they scanned the order number, a non-existing number popped up on the screen. Luckily a fourth moron had seen it earlier too and realised that whatever number pops up in the screen isn't right and all the numbers after the parenthesis need to be deleted. If they just did a basic comparison of the order number on the screen to order number on the post-it stickied to my phone, they would have caught this. After doing all this, I was able to complete my pickup.

Not sure if the issue is Best Buy's systems or the lack of training for their staff but for someone who works in corporate ops, this was pretty ridiculous to see.

I tried to trade in my SE on Saturday. They couldn't get the value of $964.32( 128GB model) and the system kept showing $76.
He called their support line to see how they can sell it but I was told its a known issue they will try to fix it over the weekend. There is a ticket opened in my order and name.
So if you are trying to trade SE, then I bet you can't.
I am hoping they don't do the same for my wife's 12 Pro max trade in with a Value of $875( its a 256GB model, very good condition). Her phone will be ready for pick up on the 28th.
was this in NJ by any chance?
I also have an SE as a trade in with an order made

I input my wife's att sim to the new iPhone first, then input the T-Mobile one later, now the phone is locked to att, what should I do
was this your intention?
someone else put in a tracfone sim (I think it was tracfone) and it is currently now locked to tracfone

It seems like now you would have to get ATT to unlock the device but who knows how this will work out since it was originally a Tmobile iPhone.

Years ago, it was said that Best Buy had a policy that if you put in a verizon chip it would be 'unlocked' but that has changed. Even verizon now doesn't unlock until 60 days.

Try to unlock it via the ATT portal site and see what happens.

I went on Saturday and was told to come back next week (today)
It was worth a shot
I'll see what they tell me
I'm in Northern NJ.
The rep said another customer came in that Saturday with a Red SE as well and they were having issues

They corrected the glitch now. T-mobile is no longer an option and the other carriers show $280 value.

I have a small screen crack on the back glass (not front screen) of my current unlocked iphone 8 plus. Has anyone had an experience in trading in "not perfect" phone? Do they even accept such trade ins?
