      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

I picked mine from BB today (CA), moving from 12 ProMax 128 GB to 13 Pro 128 GB. Fair bit of paperwork. They also needed my ID & fingerprint.

They set up activation in-store with the new sim that came with the box, that didn't work ( they attributed it to heavy load/congestion on TMobile Activation side) so they let me use my current sim and told me that my current sim would get deactivated automatically some time later (hasn't happened yet) and at that moment I could switch over to the new sim they gave me.

They also offered to set up my new phone using the old phone but I had already backed up my phone to iCloud and reset the phone so I passed on the offer.

The extra 100 dollars don't show on the trade-in paperwork but they do give it to you. It is so that if you plan to return it, you will get a BB GC worth the normal value of the trade-in and not the extras from this offer.

Anyone know if buying the iPhone counts towards your elite bestbuy status?

Not unless you use their credit card.

With my phone the new sim also didn't get my number so I've been using the old sim since Friday.

I also asked T-Mobile to try unlocking my phone, they submitted the request 2 3 times and they all error out. On my device unlock page after logging in my account on a web browser it shows unlock "status unknown" and "This device is not in our system" which confuses them as well.

I feel Best Buy failed to set it up as upgrade properly, that's why the new SIM didn't work. And that's why the new phone is not in T-Mobile's system.

They've been trying to unlock it since Saturday and the case is now escalated twice to a superior's upper level. they said they'll coordinate with manufacturer and call me back within 24 hours.

They also wanted to set my expectations by saying that supposedly the phone needed to be on the network for 40 days before it can be unlocked. I told me I understand that. But I tried to unlock a previous iPhone right away after getting it and it worked, and I worry that the 40 day limit is not the cause of the unlock error so even after 40 days they'll still run into the same problem unlocking it. The supervisor didn't respond directly. Let's see what they tell me today

Did you try activating the sim yourself in your account online or 611?

No I didn't yet. I want to let T-Mobile exhaust their solutions first. If they still can't do it I will tell them about the new vs old SIM. I worry if I tell them about the SIM card they will pick the easy way out and say oh it's the SIM card's problem and you should go to BB there's nothing we can do

If you go to bestbuy - order status, it has a link/button for setting up the phone. That will take you to the next page where you can key-in the IMEI and activate.

Once activated, you can contact T-force or Team of experts and have them submit the unlock request.

Oh! Good to know. I will try that and also activation on T-Mobile website after getting the call from T-Mobile today. It's odd to think that the phone itself can't be unlocked because the New SIM card is not set up properly though.

Anyone think that Best Buy is going to restock other colors besides midnight before this is over? I wanted starlight and could get it from the apple store, but I'm saving almost $300 going through Best Buy, and a different color isn't worth that much!

Based on a conversation with T-Force, it is my understanding that the 72 hour wait is how long it takes for the phone to register with T-Mobile's systems. I'm guessing this has to do with the Best Buy's flex activation policy. My Costco T-Mobile iPhones unlocks were instant.

If you look at the phone unlock status on T-Mobile's website, it will probably say:

I had my unlock request approved on Fri, so as soon as the iPhone 13 is recognized, the unlock should be instant.
Update: Phone is now unlocked. My account online is still showing the "Status Unknown" but the phone Carrier Lock is showing "No SIM restrictions". Put in a sim card from another country, did not get any restrictions message i got before and it tried connecting to the carrier (other country carrier name showed up). All seems good.

Not sure if it helped. After about 80 hours, it was still locked. I went through my Best Buy order and did the "Activate Phone" thing and entered my IMEI number on the phone. Then changed the sim card to the new sim card Best Buy scanned. Checked two hours later, phone is showing "No SIM restrictions" but online is still showing "Status Unknown".

Edit: another hour later and now the online page is showing device unlocked <-- Ignore, i was looking at the wrong line.
