  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

---- Tuesday:
"Your unlock request has been approved. Please be advised, the computer must have an active internet connection to unlock the device. I have included the instructions below for your convenience for you to provide to the customer.
If successfully unlocked, the message Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked will display. Additional information for unlocking Apple iPhone devices can be located at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201328 It can take 48 hours from the time you receive this email for Apple to update their records to allow the device to be unlocked. If you continue experiencing difficulties, we recommend referring to the document https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-38515 and master reset your device and then attempt using an alternate SIM card. If further issues arise we recommend the customer contact Apple for further assistance by calling 1-800-MY-IPHONE or through the website at https://support.apple.com."
---- Wednesday:
Able to use the Verizon SIM card. The phone is UNLOCKED.
Have you told them (or have they asked you) whether you are a t-mobile customer or not?
They are asking for my t-mobile information, but I feel like I should not give it to them? but rather have them unlock because I just paid a full price? Want to see how you initiated the request.

Same happened to me but I chatted with them through T-Mobile app. I picked up my phones last Friday 9/24 then I first chatted with them on the next Monday and the rep said both phones are not T-Mobile phones even they were activated on their network?? and all she could do was write up the report for investigation!

I chatted again today with guy seems knowledgeable about the issues and he told me that he emailed Best Buy and it may take up to 72 hours to unlock the phones….. and guess what!! Both of my phones are unlocked now showing no sim restrictions in settings!
My agents just loops around sending new request, denies and tell me it says needs to be 40days…

How long have you been with TMobile?
What reason are you saying you want it unlocked?
Did you activate it through Best Buy order on the site?

40 days is standard policy. Sometimes, they will unlock it earlier if you get a nice rep and/or if you are a longtime customer. If you are not in a hurry, just wait 40 days

Submitted the unlocking request days ago but for some reason my phone still shows not in T-Mobile system as of today. I just called earlier and the agent tried to unlock again and the system says it has to be in the system for 40 days (I imagine it actually means the phone needs to be in the system at all to be unlocked) Kind of stuck…agent can't do anything if they can't see my phone in the system. They still see my old phone in the system Frown
I contacted tforce just now. Rep said they have to email a different team to unlock these from Best Buy. It could take 72 hours to hear back. I'll update what happens.

For those devices, because they are not a T-Mobile device they typically will unlock after a master reset and another SIM inserted. When that is not successful, we can send an email to our support teams for assistance with the unlock. We typically hear back from them in 3 business days.

Do you had to reboot or do the reset of phone to see no sim restrictions in settings?

T-force is T-mobile customer care team on Twitter..you can give your t-mobile information to them..T-force is better than the phone-in customer care

My account has 10 lines and upgraded 3 lines with no issue on Friday. 4 th phone got delayed so went next day to pick up. Initially they have trade in issue tmobile so could not able yo process. next 3 days they are telling same issue. Today i went and they said my account blocked for not upgrading at best buy. Contacted Tmobile and my account dont have any issue and no past due balance. All eip phones are paid off. After talking to Tmobile Best buy tired again to complete order but the order totally gone in their system and unable to find. My Best Buy account still ahowing its ready for pickup. After long discussion Manager agreed to check manually and find my order but best buy systems not able to proceed any further to complete order.
