  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Guys do you think iPhone 13 Pro is a worthy upgrade from iPhone X ?
I am really confused should I upgrade or wait out through next year.
I spent good amount of time in Apple store playing with iPhone 13 Pro and to be honest I liked the form factor of X over 13. X is much lighter and slimmer with hardly noticeable screen size difference (5.8/6.1)
The only reason for me to upgrade is X would further drop in its trade in value next year.
I have been using iPhone X since last 3+ years and I'm perfectly happy with my current phone. Battery obviously has degraded but not really bad.
It will be a sizeable upgrade from X. Your X will decrease in trade in value, but don't forget to factor that Best Buy is giving you an extra $100 on the current trade in value AND the phone is on sale for $100 off. Seems like the ideal opportunity to upgrade your phone IMHO.

Don't do it. It will lock to that foreign carrier and you will have a permanently locked phone. The foreign carrier will not unlock a US iphone and the US carriers will not be able to unlock it for you.
Afaik, it won't work with a foreign SIM card. It only works with US carriers. It will show activation error. That's how Apple activation server is designed. It will lock itself to a first inserted US SIM card.

I upgraded to the iPhone 13 Pro because of this deal. And I would say its worth the upgrade since they're giving you ~400 for it. I do notice the 13 is more smooth and the camera is amazing for night mode and macro.

Including all Best Buy discounts (extra $100 on trade in + $100 off sale price) I am getting a total of $390 off for my X.

How long it usually for T-Mobile to unlock the device, iMessage T-Mobile told me 72 hrs? Just want to make sure the rep did the right thing and I'm not wasting 3 days and contact them again

Is iMessage just as fast and reliable as T-Force for the (72 hour) unlock request?

Chatted with twitter on Wednesday at 8 PM. Saw it was unlocked today, Friday at about 1 PM eastern.

I doubt I would need that. Just didn't want to pass up this cheap upgrade. Best Buy could end this at any moment

Coming from an X? You will definitely notice it. The 13 pro is thicker than the 12 pro. So imagine coming from an X

Instead of using the Best Buy supplied SIM, can I just activate T-Mobile service on the new iPhone using the built-in e-SIM? Are there are downsides to doing that? Not sure why no one in this thread is talking about it.
