  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

A family member of mine placed an order already but it was back-ordered and have no idea when it's going to be available for pickup, would this mean that their order & trade-in price would still be honored even if the sale was over?
Oh, they will honor the purchase price. That is not changing. You just need to get the purchase IN BEFORE the promo ends, that's all.

I just placed another order today. The pickup date won't be until Oct 15.

BestBuy told me right away they can't activate T-Mobile accounts in the store, they can call T-Mobile but said it's a long wait and to just go to the T-Mobile store instead.

I went to the T-mobile store and they activated the new sim within 1 minute and I was all set.
Did you port over a number? I'm on going on 15 plus hours now for porting and Tmobile is blaming US Mobile while US Mobile is blaming Tmobile. It's a business number so I'm getting hosed. Ridiculous.

what state do you live in that allowed another purchase?
I'm in Northern NJ and just about every iPhone 13/ 13 pro and 13 pro max is backordered

It says you can order and pickup soon but once you add to cart, it will not let you proceed.
thanks for the update!

I always activated my iPhones via Best Buy my orders page though they worked with existing SIM card. It then transfers line to the SIM card that is taped to your iPhone box. I then switched it back to my ESIMs via T-Mobile online account.
But you need at least any kind of SIM card to start the iPhone.

Hmm I was just able to place 2 upgrades for iPhone 13's
They won't be ready for another 2 weeks but at least it's allowing the purchase.
Thanks!

I got taxed ~$85 here in California for a 13 Pro 128GB, 10.25% sales tax rate. My cost after trade-in was $99.99 + sales tax. So it looks like it's taxed on the normal price of the phone before trade-in.

Not here in Florida. I was taxed on the cost after trade ins of differing values. Other posts indicate it varies according to state laws.

So i am trying to order iPhone 13 Pro Max through Bst Buy. At the T-Mobile account creation page i keep getting an error "Please try again we had an issue, but it should be fixed now.".

Has anyone run into this issue? I have been trying since last night but no success.
I got that error message every time I was verifying by e-mail address but not if I verified with the cell phone number on the account

When I was going through the online checkout portal it was showing sales tax on the full, *before* trade-in price. But when I went in-store to actually buy the phone I was only charged sales tax on the cost of the phone *after* trade-in deduction. So the cost of the phone wound up being about fifty bucks less than I had anticipated.

Same here in NJ. I was taxed on the total cost after the trade-in: $69.99+$4.64=$74.63

Is it better to "activate" online via the link in my order or to just turn on the phone and put the old SIM into the new iphone?

How long will it take for unlock state updated in the phone? Tforce messaged the unlock is processed while still showing SIM locked after 3 hours.

Was charged around $7 for the 13 pro. Traded in my 12 pro which gave $800 credit. $900 bb price - $800 trade in = $100 + around $7 in tax

Probably 24-72 hours. Took about 36 hours for mine.
