Availability is still ass across the country, but IF you absolutely must have a next gen console, the Series S isn't the worst, better than the Xbox One S but just under the One X. It'll let you play XSX games, Xbox One and all backwards compatible games, but you won't always get the graphical/performance boosts that the XSX guarantees.

Not awful, but if you can hold out, probably better to be patient

BS I own both the Series S and the Series X and the S is a great system for the price as long as you know it's limitations.

It doesn't have the GFLOPS of the One X but I wouldn't say it's "under," it's Next Gen system so it still has features and enhancements that the X1X doesn't have. For the price/performance, the XSX is pretty unbeatable especially when paired with Xbox game pass.

i don't know if i can agree with you. i own the one x and the series s. games load way faster, look better and run smoother on the series s.
the one x starts to get loud and gets stutter in menus, where the series s just performs like a champ.
as soon as my series x arrives, the one x will be traded in.

Yep, when my Series X got delivered, the Series S slid in the "bonus room" and the One X got bumped from the "bonus room" and out to Craigslist. With that being said the One X is also a great console (especially with a SSD), I just prefer the performance of the Series S.

Just got back from my local Costco (27265) and they had a Xbox Display with several "cards" to purchase the S "digital" console. Limit 1 per customer per day.
