I have this monitor. It's decent, but a bit of an older stye/tech. $240 was regular price at BB a few months ago, and I got it for $170 when they had a special.
For $240 there are better options out there.

I've had the hp 25x 1080p TN panel for about 3 years now. I put it side by side with an lg 27" 1440p ips and could barely tell the difference after calibration (except for text - pixel density was just slightly in favor of the lg 27"). Color and brightness were very surprisingly excellent for the hp25x TN panel. If the hp27i is similar I'd recommend it for sure.
I use my 25x for 144hz gaming and digital art/photoshop.
I will say this. I have the LG UltraGear 27GL850-B and it is fine, but the HDR10 on it, like a lot of monitors, is just for marketing. It doesn't really work. So, don't let HDR10 be a deciding factor. If I had know that, I might of bought this. But I don't like the green accents on this monitor, even though they are a match for the green on my HP laptop!

Link to an alternative? This seems pretty good for an ips 144hz panel

It says Brightness is up to 350nits which to me is average and it's an IPS. I think LG has a better panel but at this price it's not bad at all.

An IPS monitor would offer far superior colors imo.
