If it's the same as the last Costco deals, it's model ES67071OU2109. That's standard leather ("top grain"). Retail is $6K.

IMHO their standard leather isn't great.

I really want to buy this. I wish I could find used pristine for like 2k. I think this isn't any better of deal than visiting with authorized dealer with HM.

I got one for 2250 in EXCELLENT shape in Georgia three years ago. It's possible. Keep checking Craigslist, FBM, etc.

$4500 for only top grain leather seems a bit crazy. Top grain usually isn't that great. I think I'd pay extra for better quality leather on a chair like this.

I am familiar with the different leather types, but I don't think I've ever heard of top grain leather as being low quality.

Granted, I have not personally upholstered with either, but I always saw top grain as perfectly acceptable for any furniture when it comes to durability.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's low quality, but not as good as it could be. If I'm spending this much on a chair, I'd rather pay a bit more for the best I can get, considering it's probably a chair you'd keep for life and maybe pass on.

I need to get into the stupidly overpriced chair business.

I can't imagine what the profit margins of this product is. I bet the executives sit in a room when developing this product and go: "Can you imagine all the smooth brains that will buy this!? It's so easy to make. We can print these things out like nothing in a factory!"
