Just know that Amazon has been slowly doing updates to add a screen called "Alexa for your day" to these that you can't turn off in settings. It sounds like a small change, but it rotates to that when you're near and usually trying to just check the time or see the weather. I've sent feedback, and, like many others, asked multiple times in the Alexa/echo/amazon forum. They've basically said turning it off is not an option, and you can send feedback through Alexa.

The only real difference between 1st and 2nd Gen is the hugely upgraded camera 1MP to 13MP with auto-framing. The bump in processor is negligible. Also they got rid of the 3.5mm Jack for analog connections. If video conferencing is not that important, than the 1st Gen is still great value for the price.

Added the Blink Mini for $10 more. All those Echo Dots need some company, right?

Probably $70 again or less for the bundle around Black Friday again, but I guess it depends on how long gen 1 supplies last. I kid, we'll probably be seeing them on Woot three years from now...

Wondering how this compares to the OG Echo Show. Most seem to say it's uniformly better, though some quibble about the sound and it's odd that they seemed to have dropped the camera resolution...
