26% off is a pretty good deal. Just note that since the lake placid blue and candy apple red versions are on clearance, no returns allowed per MF's return policy.

New to guitar and have Squier bullet strat HT. Would this be a better guitar for beginners? Wondering if I should return Bullet and pay the extra $180 for mustang. Thanks

Also, The Squier Classic Vibe '60s Jazzmaster Limited Edition Electric Guitar Daphne Blue for $360. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/g...20&index=7

Yea, I saw the JM too and was going to add it after the fact but didn't get around to it (one of my favorite guitars, too). Like a lot of stuff in this price range (and in higher price ranges too, unfortunately), it kind of comes down to how good the quality control was on that batch. Buying cheaper guitars and figuring out how to fix them is a great way to learn, though, assuming you're not talking about a warped neck or something.

As far as the Bullet Strat, those can be nice guitars as well. I'd say you can't go wrong with either as a beginner. The Strat seems to have a 25.5" scale while the Mustang is a short 24". They both have C neck profiles and 9.5" radius, so it should feel the same as far as playing chords, goes, there's just less space up the neck on the Mustang. The Mustang does have 22 narrow tall frets as opposed to the Strat's 21 medium jumbo. You can find people that like one or the other, so it's really just a matter of trying them to see which you prefer. Personally I play on all sorts of guitars and couldn't tell you anything about what type of frets they are without looking them up. They're all different and for some things I like one over the other, I think you just get used to whatever you have if you're starting out and then later on you can dive into different types once you start to be able to play a little.

The Classic Vibe series is at least twice as good as the Bullet series, so I'd recommend it if you can swing the return. I had this guitar briefly before trading it for a Squier Jazzmaster, and it is quite nice for the price, in need of fewer upgrades (if any). Also, for a beginner, the shorter scale of the neck of a Mustang may be better for you. It's definitely a fun guitar, and it'll hold its value better at this price if you ever want to trade up or sell.

Thanks. I like the bullet, just not getting the tones I want. I played a Classic Vibe strat in the store and it sounded way better. I did a PM at GC. on Mustang CV. I have 45 days to return. I'm pretty sure I'll know right away.

Thanks. I almost bought the Jazzmaster. But it was $40 more than the Mustang. Not sure it's worth the extra $ to me. GC here has Jazzmaster but not Mustang. Maybe I'll go this week and try that out. And if Ilike JM better and it's on sale, maybe I'll get that. I want the all! 😂

That's cool, the good thing about Strats is that parts are easy and cheap to find. You can get complete wired pickguards and just throw it on there (maybe having to drill a hole or two, but it is a Squier after all). I never cared for them until recently and I sort of get it now. I'm more of a Jazzmaster guy but those are slightly more finicky than a Strat would be, but the reward is in figuring that stuff out.

I was really wanting the CV 50s or 60s Strat. But hasn't been on sale.

i'm aware that some just don't need that much guitar and aware that not everyone has the cash to drop on a Fender American...but everyone deserves more than what a squier has to offer.
Squiers are the most unsold $100 guitar on offer up. that should tell you all you need to know...
Squiers are best budget beginner guitars and are completely fine to play. Their quality is better than any other brand for the price.

Exactly. There have been models that were less than desirable, but there are many that rival their Fender counterparts. I have a '99 Indonesian Strat that has one of the best necks I've ever played, just pure magic. This isn't an anomaly either, you can easily find many testimonials. They also have a wide range of interesting models, like the Bass VI and Baritone, that you'd be hard pressed to spot as a cheap guitar if you didn't take a look at the headstock.

Not the best per se, but one of the best for sure. Id also recommend the Epiphone LP Special, Ibanez GIO or used RG3. Even the entry level Jackson guitars can be good.

I played many guitars under 200 and the Squier was definitely one of the higher quality ones.

Between the recommendations above just pick what you think looks the coolest or has the color you want, the rest will be down to the player.

It's the most unsold because its one of the most popular guitars sold new. 90% of beginner guitarists never make it past that stage.

You've just told us you've never played a Squier Vintage Modified, Classic Vibe, or J Mascis JM without telling us you've never played a Squier Vintage Modified, Classic Vibe, or J Mascis JM….
