Just curious, how do you use these bars?? Do you wet the bar and pre-soak the stains before the washer???

You wet the cloth with water and rub the bar over the stain, saturating the cloth with the bar soap. It works really well.

Any idea if it stains dark clothing? The Q/A on Amazon was unclear, and I have some black jeans with an older protein (cheese) stain that needs removing.

I've never had it stain anything, but then, I have not used it on Dry Clean Only items. For under a buck, it's an awesome stain remover. I use it in the sink, though, as it needs water.
