FYI: these are not Borosilicate glass. For those who do not know: when the logo is in lowercase lettering, it is Soda-lime glass. When in UPPERCASE i.e. 'PYREX', it is Borosilicate glass. Zoom in on the lids, these are lowercase.

Borosilicate glass doesn't shatter with extreme temperature change. With things like coffee cups or teapots it's pretty important. Not so much w/ these as long as you aren't pouring boiling items into them, putting frozen dishes into a hot oven, or throwing them into ice water out the oven.

I've had a soda-lime set for years that I use for baking/cooking/storage, and haven't broke one yet.

They do crack, but not that often. Of course they also get lost or warped as well. Anyways, you can order replacement lids. All and all I like the system. Prefer microwaving glass over plastic too, so these can go straight from fridge to microwave. You can microwave with lids on, but that's where you may cause them to warp.

Agreed. We bought some at the pyrex outlet for $0.50 each.

Sneaky ba$tards! Thats why I only order the ones that state Borosilicate from the Pyrex website.

BJ's has a nice 28 piece set for $32. It goes on sale occasionally. I think I got it for $26.

Not being snarky, but I honestly don't know. What's the difference between the two?

No offense SD cashback is terrible. You have to wait for weeks (90+ days of PENDING for Macy's) to show and sometimes you need to reach out for customer support. urlhasbeenblocked cashback is 12% for Macy's now, and you don't have to wait for weeks.

I think Borosilicate withstands heat shock better than soda-lime. Hence, more durable and lasts longer.

I've noticed the warping/cracking happens more often if you are microwaving and/or putting them in dishwasher(especially with heated dry). I stopped doing this a while ago and now I haven't had to replace my lids in years

I just checked the lids of the ones I've been using for 7+ years and they are all lowercase. Not a single one has broken and they have been through very heavy use. The lids do wear out though.

I wouldn't let the glass type dissuade you.

MSRP is marked up for this. These are usually $1-2 per piece.
