187 of the 299 pieces are bandaids, 18 of the items are ibuprofen/tylenol/non-aspirin

A decent deal if you do not have the majority of this stuff already but the average person will never require the majority of this but this kit is also extremely basic
I last purchased a pair from the 2016 slickdeal and they were actually slightly more, closer to $11. Each one paid for itself.

These also work very well as a take and toss item. We throw them in the beach bag, Disney bag, take them on road trips, camp
outs and even to our neighbors NY field party.
The whole kit is cheaper than one tube of Neosporin and a box of bandaides from a roadside pharmacy and way cheaper than a convenience store.
These are great to burn some FSA money

The pills are probably still good even expired. Google FEMA shelf life extension program. (SLEP). Bacitracin isn't denatured or degraded by hot car temps. The alcohol wipes may leak out. The cold pack can tolerate the heat, but does not do well with freezing temps. Band aids will still work as long as the adhesive works.

I've use some really crappy bandaids. These were previously pretty good. I'd give it a 7/10.

People usually ask why so many, and the answer is actually the frequency of change. Bandages and dressings are meant to be changed every few hours. Breathability is important for wound health.

For those who can't find the first aid kit. https://www.amazon.com/First-Aid-...823&sr=8-3 .

My only complaint about buying generic 1st aid kits is that the crappy generic bandaids don't properly stick or don't last if they stick. I rather spend a few more bucks to buy the Johnson & Johnson 1st aid kit. Everything inside the kit is of name brands. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0...B000069EYA
You rock, thanks for the link - the J&J is $12 but for some reason 15% with subscribe and save so final cost $10.17. As you noted, I'll take BandAid brand over "bandages" all day.

For my money, I prefer a brand that I know. Product quality of the J&J 140pc 1st Aid kit is preferable at $13.49 @ Target. Was frequently $12 @ Walmart, but is out of stock.

Same kit $12 at Amazon, less if you do S&S (see other post I quoted).

I purchased this exact kit Feb 18,2017 when it was a front page deal and it was $11.85 plus tax. Just ordered another at this price for the motorcycle trailer for road trips.

We bought this kit in 2016 (around $11) and have used it a good bit over the last few years as a travel kit for motorcycle trips, beach trips or camping trips. We also have a a couple of the big, commercial first aid kits you'd find in a large business that my brother ordered for me when we moved in to our house and it has a lot of the same branded products in it like the band-aids, pills, etc. The band-aids are totally fine and do the job exactly like they are supposed to. If there is any compliant about them, it would be the plastic ones as the plastic feels kind of different compared to Band-Aid branded ones but, they work just as good as far as blocking off a cut. I think a lot of people overthink "building" a first aid kit and then never get around to it and just end up not having one. I assure you when something happens and you need this stuff, the brand and your comfort level won't matter nearly as much as having something onhand to treat the problem. IF you need a kit, this is pretty good one and, for this price, it's probably going to be hard to beat.

FDA tests let military use expired drugs [thepharmaletter.com]
The US Food and Drug Administration's Shelf Life Extension Program meansthe US military can use medicines for years past their labeled expiry date.

Very few drugs actually do harm when "expired", most will gradually lose potency (not work as well). That study proved that many drugs had the same potency *15 YEARS* after expiration, and that's important for an organization that buys billions in meds yearly.

Other items.... over VERY LONG time periods elastics will degrade - bandaids will crack, etc, but I'm talking many years.

Of course storage is important too - elevated temps and sun aren't good for the vinyl in bandaids. IPA wipes will dry out.

Works for me. In for 2. I had a medkit I kept in the car, but nothing in the house. Wound up dipping into the car kit so now I'm underprepared for both house and car.

Thanks for suggesting the J&J kit, worth the extra money for name brand bandaids and creams. I grabbed one along with a small tube of burn ointment since that is not included with this kit.

Right? I just found my kit from that SD... buried in my RV. We had a burn and a cut on the same night. Can never have too many of these when you have kids, scooters, skateboards, and alcohol around. (Although it was only the adults with the alcohol who needed the first aid this time 😆

Thanks. I have a similar kit which is a few years old and has been "raided" several times with grandchildren.

Well worth $10 for a new one!
